Cpu is retail so it comes with heatsink. As for glue... oOo: Its thermal compound you want not glue eek: Theres a pad on the bottom of the heatsink that works as a thermal compound. But you're better off ordering a tube of artic silver and scraping the thermal padd off the bottom of the heatsink. |
thanks. pardon my noobness.

yo gerv and akuma -
im thinking about ugrading my pc for work as i am usually doing a lot of rendering and it slows my comp down to incredibely slow, as you probably know. i am thinking of a dual core 4800+, but am wondering if you guys know of anything that is coming out in the near future, or even if later on this year if AMD is releasing anything new? i havent been keeping tabs on this shit, so i am just asking you guys what i should do. also if i do go with a amd dual core, what motherboard should i get? if i get a new mobo i will most likely need a new video card, as my ati is AGP. should i get one now if i upgrade, or wait till summer? i also will need a new PSU no doubt, any recommendations? and lastly, i have 2gigs of pc3200, should i keep that the same or upgrade? |

As always the early adoptors of the new hardware will practically be beta testers mainly with chipset drivers and bios revisions. Buying new hardware is as always a waiting game do i buy now or wait for this, then if you wait something else catches your attention a few months on down the line then you wait even longer. The nforce 4 platform is probably as good as you're going to get in terms of stability and being solid, although the new rd580 chipset from ati is meant to be just as good and able to clock higher. If you buy a new setup now you can still use your existing ram but will need a new graphics card. Dfi lan party ultra with a 4800 would be a pretty nice setup, toss in an x1900 and you have a high end gaming setup as well. DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D Antec Phantom 500W Hybrid Fan Silent ATX2.0 PSU AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800 Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3 Buy a new case along with that and theres your new setup happy: Theres always the 170\165 opterons as well which are clocking to fx60 speeds and over for around half the price. Funny thing is the asrock dual sata 939 board suppots pci-express\agp and also has a socket expander, theyre gonna bring out a slot converter so you can plug in the socket am2 cpu's, similar to what intel did with the socket 370 to slot 1 converter . If 2 of these boards hadn't blown up on me id reccomend one of those as you could use your existing graphics card and still have upgradibility in terms of newer cpu's. A lot of people realy love the boards though, meant to overclock up the wazoo as well, just mine never worked out for me. loney: |
