Um don't think it will work, your mobo is a dfi right?
Edit: just checked its an asus, i know thers adaptors you can get for 20>24 pin, could try one of those. Ive no idea if it'll boot with just 20 pins. Whats the make and model of the psu? |
dont think so. doesnt say anywhere on the box at least.

rock: +1 gerv!
|
gerv, the graphics card is indeed quiet dance:

windows installed and running..... but I cant connect to the internet... I have a wireless card in the computer but I dont think that it detects it.
|
Built into the system? Try runing the driver cd for the motherboard, if it still can't be detected go into device manager and see if it can find any files for it on the net.
+ http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... rge0ef.jpg ffs get those cables tidied. ed: |
Now speaking from the new computer!
I will tidy those cables when I finish doing everything else on the computer. it is really the last thing on my mind right now. another question. sound isnt coming out of the headphones, and everytime I do something that is supposed to make a sound, the internal speaker thingy just beeps at me. oOo: do I need to install some drivers? I installed everything that came with the mobo. |

yeah, I got it all working about an hour ago. but for some reason it recognizes that my microphone is plugged it, but it isnt recieving any sound.
|
New mic ftw eek:
Dunno really i rarely ever use mics and when i do ive never any probs with them. Tried checking the recording options in volume control? Might just be somethings muted. |
how much better is the 7900 then the 7800?
lets see the review/analysis! biggrin: |
how much better is the 7900 then the 7800? [/quote:dce0a]
100. |
7900 is just a speed bump over the 7800, far as im aware theres no new features or anything. The 7900gtx is competative with the x1900xtx, the usual scenario of each card winning and losing a few benchmarks. Ati still has the upperhand in image quality though mainly due to their high quality anisotropic filtering.

Might be a silly answer but its worth checking out. Make sure if you have a mute button on your wire on your headset, make sure its not set to mute. biggrin: The amount of times I've done that, played with my settings for days and finally realised the button was switched to mute on my wire rolleyes: |
problem is I have tried the wizard, but the mic still doesnt work. I will check the recording option once I get home today.

Ok my friend bought a new computer, and built it himself. He put it all together and is using the dvi -> vga converter to get it to work with his monitor. when he turns it on, his monitor doesnnt show anything.
AMD athlon 4800+ dual core 64, toledo DFI Lanparty UT nForce 4 Ultra D eVGA geforce 7800GTX 256mb 500meg ram pc3200 256 meg ram pc 3200 2 hard drives 430W antec power supply those are his specs. anyone have any idea what it could be? should he go try a true dvi monitor? |
Hes only got 430 watts pushing all that? That's probably not the problem, but still thought I'd point that out.
|
Either a faulty graphics board or a faulty cpu id say. Everything spins up fans and all etc?

I'm about to buy this....am I insane? works out about $2,200AU/$1,600US which is all I want to spend, will get another gig ram later. |
Ewww Intel...Go AMD.

and what about that 7800GT?! I bet there is better and still affordable. biggrin:
|
Gonna be amusing when conroe comes out, "eww amd go intel" oOo:
|
Not likely since AMD will still have the bang for buck value.
P4 were better than AXP but people still bought them. |

ok update on my friend..
he just plugged in the necessities of his comp, and when he booted no video, and got 3 buzzing sounds like it wasnt posting or something. and no video, and he tried an old pci graphics card that does work for sure. |
just tried out FEAR with everything on high. didnt go below 90 fps.
also, can you get better antennas for your wireless card than the one they give you? the one that came with the wireless card is kinda crappy (doesnt go above the "low" status). this is a wireless card that is inside my case, just fyi |
Quote:
|
nope, can barely notice it. the case fans make more noise than the graphics card.
|
gerv, any idea on my friends problem? or you think it is still a faulty cpu? mobo?
