Looks good.
I'd go for dual channel ram though |
thx for the links, my main concern isnt necessarily the price, the choices you picked were a bit out of my range, although i havent factored in that i have a monitor, speakers etc. i just need
RAM mobo CPU i have an 80gb RAID using a modified IDE card. these HDs are circa 2002 and so they dont have the extra buffer, all i know is that there are to 40gb 7200rpm EIDE drives. is it proper to assume i will need a new RAID as well if im going to get a mobo that has DDR RAM, is faster and has more capabilities? how do you know which components will function properly with eachother? thats the hardest thing for me to understand... thx for the replies fellas. |

I'd go for dual channel ram though[/quote:76540] I was thinking about that. My question is: Is 2x 512 faster than 1 gB? |
I need to upgrade my mobo and video card, and I'm having some trouble.
So far this video card seems pretty good... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814143050 but now I need help finding a good socket 775 mobo that supports pci-e and a bonus would be if t supported agp also. |

is this a good vid card and a good price? the micro center store has a $50 mail in rebate, so it comes out to about $150. im thinkng of buying it as a part of my upgrade...

Tis agood card though, but its starting to be surpassed by cards with sm3.0 functionality.
|
no pci express on my board, but i do want to upgrade. is pci better than agp?
|
Pci express is the new graphics card slot (amongst other things in the future). Hard to buy a mobo now that doesn't have a pci express slot on it, Also all the high end cards are pci express only as agp is getting phased out.

Fear my camera phone ed: oOo: My asrock board decided to start working along with my opteron i had sitting for months gathering dust, at the minute its clocked to 2.62 ghz along side a new x1900xtx. happy: Waiting on 2 gigs of ram arriving tomrrow so hoping to get it to around 3ghz. Cards slightly bent i know, seems to be common among some x1900 boards. |

[quote:4571d]What we see is that in 1280x1024, where we did not manage to test the GeForce 7900 quad SLI[/quote:4571d] Never ran that part of the test for some reason. Seems to be quite afew problems with it as well http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/ ... li_10.html Quad sli is just a pretty dumb setup, you;re losing 150mhz off each gpu which makes for 600mhz total loss. Not even sure if the memory runs at its proper 7900gtx speeds. Pretty funny to see regular sli and regular crossfire smacking it around in some benchmarks, other times quad sli has a pretty big lead over them or a retarded 10-15fps lead over them. annoy: |
