I've just purchased that DoD source game you guys always play for about $16 but I didn't bother looking at the box. It seems I only have a CD Rom drive on my computer & this game requires a DVD Rom...
BASTSREDFDHG!!"11 Anyhoo, I was wondering if there's any way I'd still be able to play this game without going out & buying a DVD Rom? |

Looking for opinions on one of these PCI-e X16 Cards
the system I'll prob get has a 128MB PCI Expressâ„¢ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X300 SE HyperMemory in it. This would be basically for cod2/sims2 and newer games, So I think an upgrade is nec. Also looking at this

7600gs is about equal to the x1600 pro so not too good.
The best of those cards as far as speed is concerned id say is the x850xt but its missing sm 3.0 etc. If you can find a 7600GT go for that since its about equal to the x850 in terms of speed but also has sm 3.0. As far as monitors go dvi gives a sharper image (apparently). Can't really say ive noticed a shitload of difference between vga and dvi on my old x800 though. |
Ive decided to go with either the
faster core clock and memory(500/1000) only 128mb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130214 or slower core clock and memory(400/800) more mem 256 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130004 mainly for cod2 sims 2 and shiz like that suggestion |

Review here 6600gt and the 7600gs are included in it. |

this is the system its going in its a 1000 bucks(yes I know I could build it cheaper), but only way to get it is thru no interest finanicing through dell. It kills her current system which is all fucked up and crashs with memory and chkdsk errors even when shes looking at pictures she has Athlon XP 2000+ 40 gb 5400 rpm HD 512 mb of pc2100 ram geforce 4 ti4400 128 mb vid card 4x dvd burner broken cd-rw and 3.5 floppy happy: Its a Happy bday/mothers day present |

Gigabyte aurora, has 3 120mm fans for really good system cooling, also has some litle light projector at the front that casts the name and logo onto the floor, plus you can make your own logo an install it and it'll cast that instead. Probably just looks messy because the psu has no sleeving around the cables. Depends on your case as well if theres somewhere you can put them out of the way.

This was my set up monday of the wifes new PC and installing the new vid card. It was a fucking snap with that little clip action that dell has to hold in the PCI Cards

My case has a similar swing down holder to secure the expansion cards. rock:
I dunno why dell use so much friggin custom ducting in their pc's, youd think they were trying to contain the heat of an out of control nuclear power plant or something. ed: Looks like a BTX setup as well with the cpu near the front with the big cooler on it. Far better for cooling. |
