[quote="MR. SPECIAL ED":4478b]I cant wait to laugh at all you fucking weight lifting retards when you find out 75% of physical training involves running.
situps, pushups, military pushups, pullups, even fucking IT (Incentive Training) doesn't mean shit to those grueling ass jogs/runs/group runs/timed runs/hikes/so on and so on. Let me tell you - I saw some fucked up shit that people were willing to put up with. One guy had a swollen ass foot, and didnt say shit about it... Why? Because he didnt want to go to the recovery platoon and have to deal with more weeks in bootcamp. Yes. It's THAT fucked up.[/quote:4478b] I said earlier that running is more important than lifting weights. Lifting weights does improve your overall physical condition. |
totally agree with ed, going into the military you DO NOT need to be buff by any standards. its all endurance, running, sit ups, pull ups all that shit ed mentioned, lifting weights isnt a huge part

Yeah, it's not like your equipment will be made out of lead. |
Hey - if the averag joe wants to lift weights, and get 100 situps in 2 minuntes for the tests, go for it.
Lemme tell you though - that even if you are fucking fat and overweight, if you can run 5 miles then you're all set. That's IT! Seriously. You will hate yourself if you cant run without your legs giving out on you. I qould have rather done a DAY of all that exercising crap than have to deal with running. |

The shit is NOT that heavy. Trust me. The marines will get your upper body into shape. Your legs on the other hand... |
I will join some aspect of the army, either regs or reserves, either way I'm joining the Paras and you have to be fit for them.
I run quite a lot, and I do swimming (but only once a week) and try to go to my school gym as much as possible, but I'm still a lanky streak of piss and I eat loads! I'm in the army cadets aswell and that improves your fitness. |
Im might join the army. But i dont know if i should go to college first or join the army first? If i do join the army im goin into airborne hopefully.

like i said ill join reserves, cause, well canadian reserves are never called into action unless ww2 happens again lol.
I for one will NEVER join any real form of armed forces. I don't care much for going in and bombing the fuck out of people just because they want the oil we hold so dear.. I don't fight other peoples wars, i fight my own. And i refuse to endorse america's attacks on iraq, or the palistinaina people. As the good ol pledge thats G.W.Bush himself practically made up. I pledge alliegence to the flag o the united incorprates of america. And to the CEO's for with they stand. One nation under greed. With liberty and justice for oil. |

[/quote:948f6] Their actually doing a program where they send reserves on Peacekeeping missions and other out of country missions. If your a reservist, you can volunteer to take on a mission. About 1000 troops just left for Bosnia last month I think and they were all reserves. This is the first time they have tried this and if all goes well, they'll probably do it more often. So if your a reservist, and want to get out there, you haev a chance. I wouldn't doubt that the govt is doing this because we don't have the resources needed to put regular forces back out there. Sad really, that the liberals just totally ignore the facts. There have been so many studies. Practically every day a new one comes out either from CSIS or from the Auditer General that says the CF are about to collapse and they need money. But Chretien just seems to miss the point every time. He will not spend any more money on the Forces. God I hope he leaves sooner than 2004. |
I've considered going to officer candidate school for the marines. Anyone know what thats like?
|

Marine Officers Bootcamp is hard as shit to get in to, and is basically Boot Camp 2 - except with more shit involved. Certainly, the benefits are great, but - As for all you cats who already have your "jobs" lined up for yourselves - think again. You may WANT that position, but if they think you should be slinging hash in a kitchen and cleaning pots and pans, thats where the fuck you'll be going. Dont kid yourself in thinking that any job is all lined up and ready for you. As far as the "War On Iraq" - I actually dont agree with some of the reasons why we are going in there. This seems like a lot of continuing the fathers work for Bush. There are interesting things coming from inside the Bush camp - on the front, they are saying an Intermediate Occupational force resembling that of the Afghanistan model would be used, but "insiders" but that model at the one used in Japan. Interesting indeed. Yes this man needs to be stripped of weapons which he feels confident in using, but I do not think we need to rewrite a countries way of life to suit ourselves. |
