Nop.. Just tested every weapon.. With the exception of the pistols, they all make the reloading sound thinging when getting off ladders.. Granted the MG seems to be louder than the rest. Well with the exception of the shotty and rocket. They two are also really loud..

So making a mod to tone down the volumes on this would be concidered cheating. Because you would be doing it only to make yourself more stealthy.

gotta admit though butters, that picture is hilarious! Oh and the snipers only make the sound of you whipping them out again, so theres really not much of a giveaway there. but that damn stg is a loud bitch!

Airborne Butters 12-12-2002 06:39 PM

Not my STG cool: but we're not going to get in that...are we Nstuff.

Tabias2002 12-12-2002 06:42 PM

it is annoying

it also does it if u change weapons, say u r going to a good sniping local, w/ ur sniper out, then u realize u r right behind an enemy, and ur pistol is out, u get out a nade, click-click, he turns around with his smg, and kills u

Mr_nStuff 12-12-2002 07:01 PM

yeah.. you know where I stand with sound mods.. One thing.. is your sound mod server-side?

TRªPT™ 12-12-2002 08:00 PM

Ok
#1- cannot make a sound mod client side that other ppl hear
#2- sound mods arent cheating, if by anyway u think they are you need a life.
#3- the stg has to "reload" when comin off of a ladder. Other weapons do not. Easy. Done
#4- NO such thing as a server-side sound mod.

12-12-2002 08:10 PM

and the loud grunt of you hitting the ground and losing health isn't a hint to your position?
#1- cannot make a sound mod client side that other ppl hear[/quote:6dae4]That would be cool though.. But yeah..
#2- sound mods arent cheating, if by anyway u think they are you need a life.[/quote:6dae4]No-bush mods aren't cheating either? I have come across a client-side sound mod that would make you think differently.
#3- the stg has to "reload" when comin off of a ladder. Other weapons do not. Easy. Done[/quote:6dae4]All primary weapons make the reload sound when you get off ladders. As in the "cocking" sound for that weapon.
#4- NO such thing as a server-side sound mod.[/quote:6dae4]You have never been to a server that swaps certian sounds? You could call that a sound mod in a way.. it's not adding sounds, but modifying how you hear the one's with the game is a form of modding.

Only client-side mods that no one else can hear can become a form of cheating. And that's only if the sounds you replace gives you a distinct advantage.

don't forget thoughs sounds you hear when someone picks up ammo and health packs..

or thoughs random coughing sounds.. thoughs are cool.

12-12-2002 09:31 PM

random coughing? wtf? you mean other people getting killed and hearing the grunt from across the map?

Mr_nStuff 12-12-2002 09:33 PM

you never heard the coughing sound? ha..

12-12-2002 09:35 PM

i'm usually distracted by getting sniped by smgs and pistols, fighting off palestinian suicide bombers and trying to express rockets = no more aa gun to people

Mr_nStuff 12-12-2002 09:39 PM

I feel you.. It's a whole new ball-game and experience when you have the patients to play Objective or Round-Based game types.. And after the initial attack and things begin to calm down. Around the time when you feel it's all up to you and your whole team is watching. That's when you start hearing thoughs bodily functions.
