[quote="Cpt. Zapotoski":04744]Actually radios are a little smaller... still fit on the back.

I have a brother in law, and about four good friends at home for Christmas, and being sent to Iraq in Feb. or late Jan. as well, Captain Bunny.

Those four friends are 10th Mountain, and my Brother in law is 101st Airborne.

May god be with them.[/quote:04744]

not scary.... just dumb..... someones been talking shit to you pal.[/quote:88854]

why is it so hard to beleive?
Would you pass off tommy lee jones in rules of engagement for saying "the average life expectancy of a 2nd luitenent(i think) dropped into a hot LZ during vietnam was 16 seconds, 16 fucking seconds"
as shit? well you probably would but who gives a fuck.

signals is part of "radio operator" and havent you ever noticed that in war films the guy carrying the radio always gets killed?

Its not bullshit, its statistics taken from world war 2 all the way up to the present day.[/quote:88854]

yeah i got that a signals operator was the guy with the big radio on his back. what i dont know is the official title for the guy with the stopwatch. get the point ?

even if there was an infantry position like 'pointman' who was always the guy in fornt who the enemy always killed first even he wouldnt average 3 seconds.

cmon man use your head.

and as for your movie quote it was 16 minutes and based on nothing more solid than what the director got the actor to say based on the screenplay that was based on a book.

3 seconds doesnt mean the second you are out on the field you have 3 seconds before you die. 3 seconds is when there is a firefight and the enemy is shooting at you, your average time before you are singled out and shot is 3 seconds. the machinegunner in vietnam had an average of 10 seconds.

r3mix 01-01-2003 02:55 AM

jesus you keep talking about vietnam.
tell me in the US troops deployed to vietnam who was the guy sent on patrols nsuch who didnt fight he just ran a stopwatch noting down how long it took people to die?

if you think that its plausable an average time to live in battle was 3 or 10 seconds -- implying that everyone always died and did so varying slightly above and below these times -- then i wonder if you believe these times werent made up and there was actually somone timing them with a stopwatch.

get your hand off it.
