I can't say for sure why Okoboji is so crowded during the 4th, but hey, it is, so I go hehehe. I've done RAGBRI my self 3 times I think, not the whole week at once mind you, but a day or two at once hehe.
My schedule prevents me from doing the whole week, although I hope to this year http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif *EDIT* Hey, perhaps a few of us could get a team MoHAA going for RAGBRI, that is if 2015 would let us use the name*hint hint* ------------------ "Est Sularus, Oth Mithas" "My Honor, Is My Life" -Vinas Solamnus, Founder of the Knights of Solamnia [This message has been edited by Ricochet (edited January 07, 2002).] |
Yeah me too I do a few days (3-4) then I wander around the towns, my friends and I get a RV, and go from city to city, so we can set up stuff for the people that ride that day.

Ya,my cousins live in des moines, and all of her friend's do RAGBAI. iT sounds cool, but im way too lazy to ride bikes. id rather just ride in a car around iowa. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif
Im really jeleous of you guys. i wish all the time that I still lived in chicago, or anywhere in the midwest. The midwest is by far, in my oppinion, the best part of the U.S. I strongly urge anyone from outside of the country to, when they come to visit, visit at least chicago or some other city in the midwest. id much rather live in the midwest compared to Los Angeles. |
Its really cool how the lil towns really get into it. All the food stands, beer gardens(took to partipate in them myself), and other stuff. I remeber about 3 years ago when it came through my town, for an over-night stop, we had a laser show, a party uptown till about 3 in the morning, buses everywhere, tents, tents and more tents.
And the people, man, the people that do RAGBRI are really cool beans, nicest people I've ever met. ------------------ "Est Sularus, Oth Mithas" "My Honor, Is My Life" -Vinas Solamnus, Founder of the Knights of Solamnia |
I've had some of the funnest times of my life on that crazy trip. The little towns do get into it, and they are all very considerate, and especially helpful. After you've been riding for a day, you're tired hungry, thirsty, and in need of a shower, and people gladly donate their homes for an evening, share their food, their lawn, and their bathroom.
I agree, with Ihavenofriends, I've been all over the U.S. and although I love the people all over the country, some of the most kind and helpful live in the midwest. ------------------ http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/siggieproto2.jpg |
ya, your guys examples of the small towns definately prove my point that all over the world it is hard to find people that match the quality and niceness(not sure if that is a word) of midwesterners.
its hard to live life when in the winter it is 0 degrees or below, and when in the summer the degrees is at least 85 and theres massive amounts of humidity, yet the people are still nice. |
You come talk to me at 7am when I have to get up for school and start my car when its 0 or below and my windows are all good and frosted(yes, they made the defroster for a reason http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif)and see how nice I am http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

My god I know what you mean, I shamble out to my car every morning at 4 degrees above, scrape the layer of ice off the windows, and freeze in my car on the 15 min. drive to school.
I could go for some of that L.A. sunshine anyday. ------------------ http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/siggieproto2.jpg |
ya, i remember when i lived in chicago and woke up at 2:30 in the morning to go to hockey when it had been snowing all night.
just so you guys know its 60 degrees all winter and 75-80 all summer. (i apologize, i just had to rub the weather thing in a bit. dont take it badly though, im a fellow midwesterner) |
/me bangs head against monitor in disgust

If it is gonna snowe all night, my boss calls me up and says "be ready to shovel in the morning." Now, this isn't some 8am jobby, oh no, 3am, the wind is blowing, the snow is flying, and my boss, in an Expadition, is flying down the road at 50. I fear for my life every time I go help shovel, but I get time and a half pay, so it isn't all that bad.
*EDIT* Don't make me hurt you Ihavenofriends. I'll, I'll, I'll throw a snowball at you! With Ice in the middle! http://www.freakygamers.com/smilies/.../FIREdevil.gif ------------------ "Est Sularus, Oth Mithas" "My Honor, Is My Life" -Vinas Solamnus, Founder of the Knights of Solamnia [This message has been edited by Ricochet (edited January 07, 2002).] |
lol
just a little more of rubbing in: im sitting in my room in the middle of winter with my windows open and i am warm http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif |
i was just thinking to myself: WHAT DOES ROAD SALT TASTE LIKE??? if you ate it would you die?? it can rust cars so im guessing it could do some nasty stuff to yuor stomach...
|
Thankfully I am gainfully unemployed at the moment so I don't have to experience the sheer terror that has obviously scarred ricochet for life.
|
Doesn't road salt irritate your hands if you hold on to enough of it. And why would you think about that in the first place??
lol |
