... sux.

i watched it again the other night and noticed the gay dramatic monologues were just ... well... gay and inappropriate. tom hanks acting in some scenes is rediculous. bob is much better than this pos.

Are you kidding me? Tom Hanks is brilliant in SPR!

....The film does lack somewhat....But that is when you compare it to an epic like BOB.....It's better than any other war film in my opinion.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. Saving Private Ryan was pure fiction, it was a movie made for entertainment. BOB is semi-biographical series about a real unit, hence it was more about telling a story than entertainment. Both were good for their purpose.

Yeah, I think entertainment is the wrong word to describe SPR....It had to strong a shock-factor to it....I'd call it 'Insight.'

He didn't hit the soldier, that's for sure.

If he DID hit the soldier, it wasn't for a kill. While falling, the covered guys open up on the falling German. But I always watched that and wondered how the whole bunker got blown apart.

I always wondered what caused that small explosion myslelf. I always thought maybe Jackson had hit a grenade on the soldier's belt, but he was very much intact when rolled to the bottom of the hill. . .and got shot to pieces.

yo i think ur perfectly right because i read the book, and in the book it says that jackson shot the f00 and then he fell and got shot like 10 more times

Ydiss 03-24-2003 03:36 AM

Or perhaps it was because, in reality, they didn't actually use live ammunition and it was just a pyrotechnic explosive set inside that bag that was triggered to explode when Jackson shot the blank round? oOo:

It's a realistic and graphic film, but it's still just a film. No point annalyzing it to the point of distraction.

Zoner 03-24-2003 08:11 AM

Ydiss, I was about to say that exact same thing.

I hated all the mistakes they made in SPR though, like they said "Thunder" THEN flash, when it should be the other way around. There were a ton of historical inaccuracies in that

Name them all.
