Wow, surprisingly, Denver is one.

Lucky you, we have 17.5% Value Added Tax in the UK. That means every purchase you make they add 17.5% to it.

I'd take 8-10% anyday.

Yeah, europe typically has much higher taxes than the US, but that doesnt stop us from complaining about ours.

We have a 9% sales tax here in my town. However, with the addition of a HUGE Mercedes plant about 15 minutes away from town a few years ago, it has helped our city income a lot. Jobs have increased, average income has increased, and we are the only place in the world that manufactures the M-Class (ugly ass crappy car but oh well thats the only thing we're good for). biggrin:

So far, New York is the WORST place to live if you aren't trying to go broke. 8.25% sales fucking tax. Nearly 10% of your god damned purchase? And those crime and pollution ratings - damn.[/quote:0c0c5]

Hey Free Tax On Clothes

[quote="MR. SPECIAL ED":f21b0]Ok - regarding NEW YORK. It has a low crime rate PER person. So out of 1000 people, 33 are victimes of crime.

It's crime RISK though tells the full story. 195 versus a national average of 100.

I mean. Really.[/quote:f21b0]

NY is the 6th safest state, and the 11th safest city (NY's 5 boroughs). As for the tax, yes that sucks, but that's why NJ's so close. biggrin:

~10% would be nice. It used to be 17,5% here, as it is in the UK.

One year ago they changed it. 19% now. Food and stuff (nót liquor) is only 4% though.

So, almost 1/5 of spent money on, say, a T.V. ---> The Treasury.

Boston has 5% tax on everything (income, sales, etc.). But it says we are 1,168/1,224 for the personal crime risk, with 238. I have always felt safe though.

10% Goods and Services Tax here, methinks. Ironic that the Anti-GST thing was one of John Howards major points during one of the elections... oOo:
