Yes, one of the first things I said when I first played the demo was 'can you go prone?' That would be the first thing they should add. However, the shotty is more fun than a... bag, er box? of... something.

I too do not like the SG in Mohaa but it was used to some extent in the Pacific theatre against the Japs - it was used by NO other nation as a combat weapon and if used was mainly a "backup" weapon and also was used for guard duty of POW's , come to think of it in real warfare it would be outclassed in range and firepower by rifles & smg's- i would'nt have been armed with one.
Combat Shotguns used by the USA in WW2:- Winchester m97 Winchester m12 Stevens m520-30 Stevens m620a Ithaca m37 Remington m11 Remington m31 Savage m720 Goresk |
I have NEVER seen germans soldiers carry shotguns...except captured ones maybe, but how to get ammo for them, since the shotgun was not a standard issue weapon for american infantry.... its plain old stupid

actually i have a model figurine of a german luftwaffe pilot, and for some reason he was packing a shotty, i think the shotty was in thier aircraft survival kit or something, i'll look it up

I totally agree it would have been better in RTCW, it would haved suited the OTT gameplay of RTCW. Goresk |
During WW1 the shotgun proved to be effective for the American troops who were mired in the trenches. So effective, in fact, that the Germans complained and said it violated the Geneva convention regarding the rules of engagement.
Yeah, and the mustard gas the Krauts were using was fair game, eh? ------------------ The object of war isn't to die for your country. It's to make that poor bastard on the other side die for his. -George Patton |
I like using this weapon in the game too, but I try using all weapons once in a while!

I must be the only person on this board who doesn't spend all his time researching WWII and WWII movies looking up the weapons used, the physics of those weapons and whether MoH portrays them realisticly or not.
I don't bother, 'cos the sole reason I will be buying MoH is to play a game. Games are there to be played and mastered within the limits of the rules. If you think the shotgun is unfair then work out a way to beat it. I have. A good game will have balance. The World War was never balanced. I don't need to read books to know that, or watch copious movies. War just isn't balanced, it never is. War also is not fun. If you all want a game to be entirely realistic then you won't have crosshairs, you will slow right down after one hit to a leg, you'd not be able to aim after being shot in the arm, and you'd bleed to death slowly either way! War is a pain in the arse. Anyone who said war was fun was a complete psycho. I don't remember my grandad telling me it was fun, in fact I remember much different. MoH is a lot more realistic (and the word 'realistic' is not the same as the word 'real'; Realistic means real-like) than most other games out there. MoH has four automatic weapons! For the sake of variety there's a shotgun. Now a whole team using the shotgun is silly, I agree, but they won't win any games, I can tell you that. Add an m1 carbine and another automatic weapon instead of the shotgun? I don't see that as much variety, really. I don't agree shotguns are guns for men, as Hotspur said, they are more for players who like to lurk and sneak and keep in enclosed areas. They don't require an immense skill to actually hit someone, but they do need skill to kill consistently with. I don't play Quake, I never liked it. I played Half-life Death-match, however, and that game has more variety of weaponry than any fps game I've played. It's completely unrealistic, but it's extremely balanced. It has virtually unlimited ranges of skill, but most importantly it's fun. The shotgun in Half-life is wonderful. Primary fire to shoot a single shot, Secondary fire to shoot a double shot. Single is more accurate at range, but less powerful unless aimed well (headshots will kill). Double shots are widespread and very inaccurate (Just like in MoH). The newbies use double shot all the time and run out of ammo fast, only getting kills at close range. The better players use both depending on situation. Step back a minute, put your history books away and just play MoH how you like to. Only the truly bad players moan consistently about players using a weapon, be it shotgun, grenades, or bazooka. The good players just get on with it and learn how to beat them. If you don't like it, don't play it. Defining quotation for this post: Medal of Honor is a game, not a history lesson. Tips for the babies that get owned by the shotgun
1)learn how to strafe 2)get distance between you in the shotgun 3)learn how to aim for people's head. 4) did i say , learn how to strafe when you learn those skills the shotgun will just become an annoyance that can be delt with. The shot gun fires so slow that if you missed me( and most of the time people do becuase i know how to strafe), before you chamber the next round a SMG bullet would be in your head. And if you get another shot off and hit me and i die. It's my fault. You shouldn't have. It's nothing wrong with the shotgun... You just suck. Bla to the shitgun, doesnt fit with the rest of the weapons or basis of the game. IT is unblanced and it doesnt add balance by being there. Takes a very small ammount of effort to kill over and over. It has ruined the stalingrad map. I remember when ppl actually used more than just the shotgun or RL in ffa, it was allot more fun then. Until we get the full version Ill stick with the obj map. No ammount of bitching will change it though, I doubt we will see any game balance patches ever. Want a real "mans" weapon try using the kar98 on stalingrad then come back here and let me know.

Notice all the people who have posted on here except Spooge of course are new to these forums, and they weren't here when we were all going on about better things that COULD have been implememnted other than the shotgun, granted the game is good, but it would be a hell of a lot better without the shotgun and with other weapons instead which were more often used and would have been great to use ingame
