I'm from SE England so it's a tradition for me to hate French people.
Yeah..its kinda a custom in NE USA to hate em too.
The english have a rather understand hate towards the french in general. The french always slag off england, about our chocolate, dress sence etc.
And then there are the wars in the past... and the french show little gratitude to when they are helped by someone. I presonally dont run around saying i hate the french, ive been to france, its a nice place, nice food, but the people can be a bit patronising. |
who cares....scottish>english>french
they eat snails for gods sakes! ed:
Parents wrote letters into the school I used to go to saying that they didn't want their kids to learn French kus the French sucked etc.
When I say it's tradition in SE England to hate em it really is... From the Napoleonic era it's been passed down through the generations. |
do people in the uk still care aboot canada and australia?
I like to think that the UK is still closely allied with Canada & Anzac, most brits have relatives in the Commonwealth, I have a cousin who recently went to Australia. The brit armed forces are still very close to the RCAF/RAAF etc, perhaps even more so than the USA. The Commonwealth games is also still very popular, it was a big hit in Manchester. People don't view the Commonwealth as part of the 'Empire' anymore but they do view people from Australia/Canada as closer brothers than the Europeans. This is probably because we have so much culture in common, whereas Europe has such a different culture/language compared to blighty.
