Short hand how old are you? Now you are saying you played the beta, but it was "skimpy". Oh and please watch the constant posting, try to get it out in one paragraph. BTW if you have the Beta then hell freezing over must not be too far away.

i just got the beta, and i really dont give a shit if its got spy-ware, im going to play it anyways.....but i think it (the spyware) is just a rumor that the HL2 fanboys made up so no one would play it

Now this doesn't mean any "new" version of this game could be "spiked" by some unfriendly haX0rz.

let's learn about the netstat command:

Start any program you think could be leaking info to the Internet.

Then open a command prompt and type

[code:b7104]netstat –anp[/code:b7104]

netstat will give you the status of your connection. The switches do the following:

-a Prints information on all connections, including those in a listening state
–n Shows only numerical addresses; does not resolve IPs to hostnames. ( I have been taught to use this to speed up the reply. So you don't have to wait for the IP's to be resolved to the hostname.
–p Displays the process name and PID of each connection.

The info you get back will let you know what port if any is connected to the outside world. If you have a irc, ftp or web browser open, you will see their corresponding ports listed with the IP address they are connected too.

This is the easiest and fastest way to see if something is "phoning home" from your computer.

This can be used on both windows and or Linux boxes.

idk im kinda out of it oOo:

rudedog 10-13-2003 05:52 PM

That's a private address. of your cable modem or a box behind your cable modem,

type just that IP address into a web browser and you should see your modem.

Normaly your cable modem's IP is 192.168.1.100. You can check your signal levels and reset your modem as well.

KTOG 10-13-2003 08:55 PM

Its skimpy because the game was never final when it was stolen. I want to see you comile a game when you don't have the complete source and textures.

Hollywood 10-13-2003 10:02 PM

What I want to know is, why are you telling him to net use a private address oOo: ??

Actually Rude cable modems use the ISP's private network, which is why you usually see a 10.*.*.* address in a tracert, It's a class A private address. Anything behind the router will have a 192.168.*.* number.

192.168.x.x is also a private address as well as 10.x.x.x

I was mistaken, http://192.168.100.1/ is your cable modems IP address.
