I have 2 problems with this gun (can't really call it a rifle biggrin: )
1: a grunt in the field getting shot at is not the same as a B-2 bomber at 30000 feet, you don't have time to program the enemy's coordinates into the computer when said enemy is spraying down your position with AK fire. 2: where are the iron sights? What the hell do you do when the computer breaks or you run out of batteries (because your smart ass thought you'd only be gone for two hours, like in Black Hawk Down and didn't bring spares) |

thats a sexy weapon ... |
I think we should be using lazer guns by now.

The oicw really does look laughable, bulky as shit for a start, built in mobile computer...god help the recruit that drops one when hes in training...probably get slapped with a few thousand $ fine or some shit.
|
first off the original land warrior sytem was canceled last year (http://www.military.com and http://www.hackworth.com will tell you that) secondly the OICW has recived very poor feedback from the 29th Inf division field testing it in Korea. It also runs on batteries rolleyes:
now i know not everyone knows this webpage, but hackworth.com is the number 1 resource for US military info (the good and the bad) and if you to the "DA archive" on the left side of the screen, you will find many great articles |
So whats gonna happen then? Just gonna keep m-16 and m-4s?

I think they plan to use the XM-8 "phaser", which is a design based on the G-36. |
Any pics?
