we will be able to pay it however...Hasek and his 10 mill will be gone...good chance the captain will be gone as well as some of the other vets(lidstrom..unfortunantly, chelios, hull)

Myself personally, think Lidstrom is one of the biggest parts, if not the biggest part of the red Wings. It would be tragic to see him go.

Yes as well as I..I have watched him from day one..I got a autograph from him his 2nd or 3rd year in the league and of course have his sweater.. Unfortunantly he has been hinting on wanting to go home back to sweden for a couple of years now..He has been the stone cold anchor on the blue line..his production has been down this year..but hes really starting to catch fire

I don't think so. If your a good player, you go to the states because they pay you more. We can't afford to have Selannie, Kariya, Sakic, Foresberg, Foote, Tanguay, and hejduk all on one team.

What i'm saying is that most teams in canada have one or two top players. Like Iginla for Calgary, Bertuzzi and Naslund for Vancouver, etc. Not 6 or 7 like the avalanche, or wings, or stars, or RANGERS.

Kariya is only taking 1 mil a season. He took a big paycut. To me he represwents the true spirit of this wonderful game rock:

The most popular would now be Lebron James, actually.

Cool, Boston is right there at number 10, and it would be a stretch to believe that Boston actually spends money on its players.

ya cause 1 mil a season isnt very much!? Id he had true spirit he'd play for free. I loose money playing hockey.

OILS!!!!

Yeah, I know kariya is only takin 1 mill. thats cheap considering he could get 7 or 8. But all the other players on the avs are like 5 million dollars each. Calgarys entire payroll is 32million. And iginla gets like 6 or 7 million of that, and turek get 5 million and has only played 3 games this year.

Turek is a waste of precious money. Kiprusoff and Mclennan are making WAY less than him combined and have done outstanding jobs. We need to trade Turek away for one more decent forward and our team would be complete. Trade Turek to Philly (they need a goalie) for someone like Comrie or Gagne or even Kapanen and flames would be a much better team. To bad no one wants his fat ass.

I don't know man. I'm not a Turek fan, but I think we might need him in the future. I think that Mclennan and Kiprusoff are both second string goalies. I don't think they can carry a team through a year. Especialy a bad team. I don't know if turek could do that either, but I think hes expected to be a starting goalie and therefore knows what he is supposed to do. I don't think we can really get rid of him, but yes hes been a complete waste on money.

And what about iginla? his contract is up this year and becomes a restricted free agent. If we wait until the trade deadline is over, we'll get shit for him if he goes someplace else. If we trade him before the deadline, we could probably get a couple good fowards for him. If we try to negotiate a new contract, we'd have to find money we don't have. I don't expect iginla to be back next year.

Iginla seems like the loyal type of guy who would be willing to negotiate a contract that suits him and the Flames. I hope I'm right because I couldnt stand seeing him play in some American city getting paid 10 mill a season where his efforts arent as appreciated. None of the goalies the flames have can carry a team on their own. If we get rid of Turek and keep Kiprusoff and Mclennan we can cycle through them periodically and get the best out of both. Minnesota did that with Manny Fernandez and Dwayne Roloson last year and got to the Western Finals. Our defence is completely solid, all we need is one or two more 2nd line forwards for some depth and we are set. We'll see how Turek does when he comes back and I'm sure Sutter has some ideas up his sleeve with what to do with him and Iggy before the trade deadline.
