Any decent 35mm camera will cost between $300 - $400. You basically have a choice between Cannon and Nikkon. I myself have a Nikkon and i'm very pleased with it. I purchased two seperate lenses for it (They're not cheap) and a bunch of filters. Here's a decent Nikkon from Best Buy.

i dont see the difference?

what would make other brands / models more /less expensive? whats the trade off ?

Arkan 05-10-2004 07:10 PM

Judas, thats a nice camera you picked. Don't knock yourself out over the differences between all the different brands. All of them will do the trick and you'll get years out of the equipment. Good luck.

Depends on what you're going to use the camera for Judas - jsut to take pictures, or get artistic with it?

Judas 05-10-2004 07:26 PM

yup ... it ll be used for artistic type photography, not just taking family snap shots etc...

Then I'd say go with the Canon EOS Rebel...I have the 2000 version, had it for 3 coming on 4 years and it's worked beautifully.

The Minolta is a great slr , tom. I dont know about the Canon Rebel, so I wont comment about it, but the maxxum is a great series. ?For less than 200.00 you cant go wrong. Check Accesories and such as well. Any extra's that you want for sure? Are they included. The warranty isnt really an issue fexcept for the higher ticket items , I would think.

anyway let us know what you get.

my dads got a Nikon...those things are very very awesome...it takes beautiful pictures...

Madmartagen 05-11-2004 12:34 PM

I think whoever makes the lenses prolly makes the best cameras. That would be Nikon and Cannon, wouldnt it?
