Thats cool and all, but IMO our country is wayyyy too proud of D-Day. It was a brilliant operation, but it seems like it has gotten twisted by our "propaganda", if you will, to be the deciding battle of WWII, it was simply not. The germans were screwed way before that. The deciding battle was stalingrad. Starting the second front was only to help the russians continue to drive the germans back. But we certainly couldnt give credit to communists for winning the war! It was all about D-Day to us. Overrated to say the least. Still an interesting subject for movies and such.

The US wasnt at Stalingrad, so we dont make movies with American soldiers about Stalingrad. oOo:

I still dont think Stalingrad was as pivotal as everyone says it is. The German advance was halted, not stopped. It wasnt until Kursk when the German army was crushed and thrown on the defensive.

Hitler did not know about the Russian forces stationed at he East. He way underestimated their forces and their production. I think Hitler even asked for a truce sometime durring Stalingrad. There is a recording of Hitler as the true number of russian forces is revealed to him by one of his generals. From his voice you could tell he knew his fate. He said something like, if i had known, i would have never invaded.
