so.... your saying musical talent is nonsense??

im not trying to defend or attack anyone, im just pointing out that that makes no sense... Im not saying you have to like anyone either.

GraveyardDisciple 07-25-2004 01:17 PM

U.S. supremacy has nothing to do with music. And I said "you should respect," not ordering anyone around, just making a point.

Tystnad 07-25-2004 01:58 PM

Thats not making a point,
thats stating your own view
of it all, and trying to mani-
pulate others. Then again,
thats the way i see it. Now,
care to drop it all and go back
to merlins' sig?

fujimi7su 07-25-2004 02:17 PM

Yes...unlike alot of other bands...Dream Theater has versatility. Some of it you might like, some of it you wouldn't. And no matter what kind of music you like, you should at least respect Dream Theater for their unmatched musical talent and composition.

Static...if you are a more "hardcore" guy, try listening to the album Train of Thought.

respect rofl

ive listened to train of thought, images and words and scenes from a memory and i didnt like any of it[/end]

Where you guys play? just curious

and static, they do have talent... if you say portnoy and petrucci have no talent you really are a fucking retard dude.

whether you like or not they have incredible musical skill

i forgot most people here have no idea WTF talent is, im willing to admit most pop singers are talented, though i dont listen to their music. You can respect talent w/ out liking the music.

im tired of doing this to all these threads

ahahaha, im really sorry man, but thats not an opinion. dont be a dumbass.

fujimi7su 07-26-2004 11:07 AM

They are a good band = opinion

talent can be seen, its not a matter of opinion

talent can be measured, quite easily actually.

eh, i'd have to disagree there. how can you measure talent? there are different types of talent for music. speed, technical ability, melody, uniqueness. its hard to measure it, but the fact that they are talented is undeniable.

I think that full comprehension would require at least some musical study. Static and Tyst I'm sure you don't listen to music and recognize odd time signatures, flatted fifths, minor and major harmonies, things like that. DT does vocal-keyboard-guitar harmonies sometimes up to six different notes on top of odd time signatures oOo: . Also, Mike Portnoy is considered to be one of the best drummers who ever lived, up with John Bonham and Neil Pert.

watch it, i said the same thing and got flamed, even though it s true, and unless you have musical ability... you wouldnt know, but they seem to think they do.
