I'll give my two cents since I was doing FIBUA (Fighting In Built Up Areas) training on the weekend.
I would NOT want to be a Marine or US soldier having to clear houses in Iraq. Those guys are brave as anything and I commend them for that, even if they are there illegally and under false pretences. We went to an abandoned warehouse that had a couple floors of office space and basements and other areas. Let me tell ya everytime an attempt was made to clear the building, casualties were taken. Stairs and hallways are choke point, and it is EASY to take out troops. You'd also be suprised at the number of troops required to take certain buildings. I gurantee there will be high civilian casualties. When you go into buildings, you go guns blazing. Ask questions later. I don't want to die, so civilians dying is kind of OK. Thats the way it is in urban combat. |
I have a question.
For training, do you train with airsoft guns or anything like that? I know the Iserali army(or some place like that) uses paintball guns for training. |
Oh man you have no idea ninty, i did a week straight of MOUT, and that is asshole puckersing, Simulated IEDs are scary as fuck. You cant even see them because the iraqis hide them so well. I got my legs blown off in a mach war we had, I tripped over a trip wire i didnt even see, its just impossible.
And it takes basically an entire squad to clean a small 2 story house. Its ridiculous. Im proud of my boys over there fighting. |
