Who decided on the initial strategy for the warehouse taking ? What about
during the assault ? |
thats awesome, worth the 45 MB of content...haha
beer: |
Initial strategy was done by Major Vernon. He's the one by the white board in teh second pic. Well I shouldn't say it was done by him. It was done by all those officers around computers you see in some of those pics at HQ. It's a group effort. Major Vernon would have been the #1 in command because I don't think the CO was there that night.
Maj Vernon gave the briefing, then he would consult with the Platoon warrants and tell them what he wants each platoon to do. Then the platoon warrants tell each section commander wahat to do with their section. In battle, there are company objectives (capturing the enemy, building etc), platoon objectives (1st floor, 2nd floor etc) and section objectives (hallway, room etc). So in the battle its pretty much broken down into sections of 10-12 people. The platoon warrant would tell his section commanders what he wants done, then the section commanders will take their troops and do the task. |
What if there's a conflict between what the officers want done and what
the actual fighting soldiers observe and believe should be attempted ? Would you really trust your life to a man who isn't by your side, asking you to charge ahead regardless that you believe it is a bad decision ? Clarification: do you have some leeway regarding how to achieve an objective ? How much so ? |
so many pics :)
