Philadelphia vs. Atlanta in the NFCC.
Will be a close game, but ATL has one of the best running games and Philly has no run D whatsoever. Also, Philly is pretty reliant on Westbrook to set up the pass and ATL has one of the best run defenses in the league. Only thing that will keep it close is the McNabb/TO connection, but even that is overrated. Look at how much time they have to have for them to hook up and ATL has a quick pass rush. Throw in D'Angelo Hall stepping up as a shutdown CB and you've got a tight game. I say ATL over Philly by 4 with a last minute TD. Super Bowl will be PIT v. ATL and ATL will lose by 10. |

philadelphia killing machine is cool, he almost never comes out of the moh mms forum
this is by far the best season for the nfl in a long time i dont think that atl will overrun philly in the playoffs, our d will hold up against vick, who is definately a good qb, but doesnt have as much support offensively as philly i see a steelers eagles bowl and i have no clue who will win at that point |
If Philly goes to the Super Bowl, Steelers will come out champs. The Steelers offensive scheme is very similar to the Falcons in that they are very heavy on the run and don't really need the passing game to win (I think it was last week that Roethlisburger only had 16 pass attempts). Big Ben is awesome, no doubt, but the real breakout star for Pittsburgh is their O-line. Roethlisburger is getting 3-6 seconds in the pocket - which is huge - and Staley and the Bus are getting holes bigger than those on Pyro's mom to run through.
Anyway, Philly has been helpless against the run all season. I think Trotter may help, but he is way to focused on trying to be in the highlight reels. Every play he is either on the QB or shadowing a wide receiver. When the ball is run on the ground, he is late often. The only way Philly will win is if Burress stays out. That way the deep threat is eliminated and they can pull that eighth man forward to stop the bleeding on the run. Also, Philly will have to work their tight end a bit better. The biggest hole in that Steelers defense is the soft spots in the middle that are perfect for a TE. Remember, when Philly played PIT earlier this year, they shut T.O. down. I still think Atlanta goes to the Super Bowl, though. T.O. has brought this arrogance to Philly and I think it is beginning to encompass the entire team. I am one who really, really likes McNabb as a QB and even I am pissed off by how much T.O. has rubbed off on him. I think that Philly will continue to overlook ATL like everyone has all season (despite the fact that ATL has played offenses that have, combined, scored over 100 points more than the offenses Philly has played) and their lack of respect will cost them a close game. |
