They don't work in tandem like smp, you either use one cpu or the other, have to disable whatever one you're not using through jumpers on the mainboard.

They can, certain motherboards support it, given they are quite expensive, theyll usually say "will support dual processors up to X GBs" some require or come with software to go along with the OS to help clock etc

Ive yet to read of any motherboards that can have an intel and amd cpu working together, given that smp takes 2 cpu's off the same speed and intel and amd's interpretation of "mhz" are completly different i dont see how it could work.
