f you guys who live in the blast area. Im pretty damn safe up here in New England. ID gladly take a winter of 100 feet of snow over a volcano blowing me up anyday. Lets not forget that the largest earthquak that happened over here in recent history was about a 1 on the R scale.
Also Having been to Yellow stone I know that it is one giant volcano. I was there for 3 days and there was an earth quake of decent size once and a couple small ones each day. I dont think Id go back there any time soon because of the fact its a volcano thats larger than a city.

Ya, I'm pretty sure there was somthing in the news about increasing preasure under Yellowstone but that was a few months ago. I remember watching a video about the super volcanoes in my earth science class in my freshmen year and if I recall there are three of them world wide. I also remeber in the video it saying that each explosion at yellow stone became significantly smaller after one another but if it were to go off again it would affect world climate patterns and all that dooms day stuff.

Thanks for the link.

If it were to happen, New England wouldn't be safe either. The climate would get screwed up globally causing all sorts of damage. Food would become scarce.

THe entire pacific ocean is practically a volcano.

Exactly, again it was somthing to the affect of when the super volcano explodes the ash will be shot up so high in the atmosphere it will stay there for months/years(?) and block out the sun killing off alot of plants and other life. So no matter what when or if that baby ever blows were all screwed.

ya us here in New england would be safe from the actual blast, but in the 1800's i think it was a island blew up not far from iceland and it caused snow and esentially winter here in JULY! and the largest earthquake here in recent history was a 5.3 last year. the epicenter being near the border of VT and northern New York somewhere. i live right on a fault line with annual activity. But an explosion of that magnitude would distrupt the weather here A LOT. think el nino's a bitch, the explosion will make hell look like paradise here in New England
