Did you know that we bombed the shit outta the Mitsubishi plants in WWII? They built the engines for the Kamakazis.
One of these WWII buffs clued me in on that around here somewhere, so credit to whoever it was...

Kinda freaky eh? One of the best selling automotive lines in the US.[/quote:bec32]
Ehh, not so much, hell, volkswagon was Hitlers thing.. BMW made engines for german planes... lots of stuff like that

Volkswagen has terrible quality in their cars. The only thing i can say for them is their suspension is top notch. Other than that...pure shit, my friends a mechanic, says they suck ass.

Mitsubishi > * (for now until i get a Suby)

Mitsubishis are a one trick pony

european cars > japanese

hey sorry to hear about your choice for a VW, be prepared to spend money on it, they do fall apart....newer car is always better. check out consumer reports

Miscguy 05-04-2005 11:47 PM

Get a honda, cheap gas and it'll run forever. Some of the junkiest hondas iv ever seen were driving down the road.

Get a BMW.

Unknown_Sniper 05-05-2005 12:48 AM

WIll this be your first car? if so then I want to say get the passat as it has a turbo and I promise you that within a year you will be at least interested in a turbo. However the smart person in me says get the Jetta as it is a better first car.

Tripper 05-05-2005 01:33 AM

Don't get a jetta or a passat, your best VW option is a Golf. Generally more of a reliable car....They're alot like Peugeot's 206s/205s/306s - Small, quick, and better quality than any other model of VW....Otherwise steer clear of VW altogether and get a Peugeot 405 or something.

CoMaToSe 05-05-2005 02:28 AM

jetta

Innoxx 05-05-2005 02:36 AM

A Passat is a better first care, IMO. It has top notch safety ratings, a good fuel economy for its class, and it's relatively easy to drive. My mother owned a Passat way back when, we had the car for a good 8 years before we traded it in. Plus, you don't get raped by car insurace because it's a family car.

PS. I don't think they sell Peugots in NA, which is a shame, since I heard they were good cars.

Yeah peugeots are generally great cars....My mother has a 1988 205 cabriolet, she got it about 10 years ago for 10 grand - Since then it's only had a minor clutch problem....My uncle used to be a mechanic for a shop that specialised in european cars, and hes owned 3 different models of Peugeot, he tells me they're overall the best car he's ever driven/maintained....They can take a fair thrashing too...

...Of course, like most european makes, there are a few shithouse lower-end models that just fall apart, but if you talk to someone who knows their shit, they'll steer you in the right direction and set you up with a car that'll last you well.

Unknown_Sniper 05-05-2005 09:40 AM

YA they dont sell puegots in NA I think becuase they use leaded gas or something about emitions. if they did I would probably be looking at one of them. In the near future.

Madmartagen 05-05-2005 10:10 AM

if it has to be one or the other, i would say go with the jetta. but i recommend you get a new toyota or honda. if someones gonna spend 13k on a car, it might as well be new.

Short Hand 05-05-2005 11:53 AM

AVOID the jetta, electrical problems on that pos are far and long... very far and long.

PASSAT !!

bukdez 05-05-2005 01:46 PM
