I dunno, American Dad to me is more "inside-jokish", though you dont truly have to be on the "inside" to understand the joke, just keep up with the papers and news (like the Whitney Houston scene last night..haha, I choked on that). I saw no randomness at all, all the jokes had to do with what was going on.

When I mean randomness, I mean, well, like what I just said...a chicken pops out of absolutely nowhere and starts beating the dad up (Family Guy last night). I dunno, I just find those things lame, I like well-thought-out plot-lines (like the early Simpsons..I loved the transitions from one plot to another every episode).

I started watching Everybody Loves Raymond after Seinfeld finished, and is really the only comedy sitcom I really enjoy, maybe because it has a lot of crap I can relate to, I don't know. The finale was good, not great, but it was better than Seinfeld's IMO.

The chicken scene happened for a reason, he gave him an expired coupon. If you would have saw that episode you would have got the joke.

I watched it. It wasn't bad, but E.L.R was never that funny to me. I'm (partially) with Duffy, I don't find Family Guy as funny as everyone says it to be.

i am a loyal fan of the show. I watched the final episode and to tell you the truth, it was a big disappointment. It seemed so...uh...uneventful for lack of better terms.

Tripper 05-16-2005 08:18 PM

Not a ELR fan. Seinfeld, Simpsons, and Family Guy all pwn. I like new Simpsons FAR better than old Simpsons....Way more jokes packed in for me too laugh at - Not to mention the animation almost gets slicker and more clean cut as the seasons go on.

Thank Jeebus this show is over. Ray Romano is about as funny as a ball of dryer lint.

The Simpsons: Has lost a bit of edge, but I still love it.
Family Guy: My current favourite 'toon. Kills me every time.
American Dad: Not diggin' this so far. The alien with the Paul Lynde voice is annoying. The german goldfish is pretty funny, though.

I wasn't a huge fan of the show, but it was pretty funny. The finale was a bit week I though and could have been funnier. Either way, it's sad that a show running that long and well is now over. Like Buck Said 'It's Seinfeld all over'

TonyMontana 05-17-2005 11:06 AM

Everybody Loves Raymond is practically the last of the 90's sitcoms (Friends, Seinfeld, etc)....Which IMO were the best years for television. Nowadays TV is the crapper.

No way? I hate the new ones with a passion, all the jokes do is reflect a characters sterotype or just plain arent funny. Sure it may have it's moments, but there's simpsons episodes that have alot more laughs. The ones from the mid-early to late 90's were and still are fucking hilarious, imo. Seasons 3 - 11 or so. ( 1991 - 99 )

I dunno why - I just seem to laugh more often at the newer ones....I liked the older ones too, because I've always liked The Simpsons, but for some reason most of my friends agree, whereas most people I talk to on the net disagree.....

I'm not one for the sitcoms and reality TV but the few shows I watch are Family Guy, and The Simpsons. Although I'm going to have to agree with Tripper that I think the newer Simpsons are funnier, not to say however that the older Simpsons weren't funny.
