I cant wait to watch this, there have already been several excellent movies created this year such as: Star Wars, Batman, SinCity etc, I just hope this lives up to my expectations.

A good director will let you see what you need to see, and let your imagination fill in what happens behind the scenes. You don't need to know what happens all the time with the military, you don't need to know the scientific reasoning behind the bacteria and red grass. You don't need to see every country duking it out with these aliens.

If I wanted to use my imagination to fill in all of the gaps, I would read a book. I go to the movies to be visually entertained. In the scene where Robert goes to the top of the hill where the military is: I would have loved to see the a shot of the robots being hit by bombs and shit. It was a big disappointment just to look at the army shooting. The red weed/plant...wtf is that all about? Is it for changing the atmosphere to the alien's home planet?

Yeah, I didn't read the book and that's probably where I have alot of my complaints. But I do think when they base a movie off of a book or fairy tale, they should add/change things to make clearer sense. I'm not telling them to put in a billion and one different scenes. I'm talkinga bout adding 1 dialogue line to clear up an idea. It just would have taken 1 line.

I think the film was awesome. The effects were incredible that I didn't pay too much attention the acting. One of those few movies that actually scared me but (probably cause I was high) with that big horn those tripods use to sound.
Steven used the Saving Private Ryan style for this film. Moving cameras, SPR sound effects. Really nicely done. I didn't really notice the music or the acting at all. The panic and chaos was enough. Its a Great thriller and I recommend watching it before you make up an opinion.

If you read the book, you find out that H.G. Wells himself didn't know why. He speculated it was because they wanted to turn earth into their planet, or some spores or seeds from the red weed got attacheed to the ships before they took off for earth.

yeah, i said it before. Alot of my questions could probably be answered if I read the book. But what's the point in making a movie where people need to "do their homework" (read a book) before they come to the theater? I dunno; I guess it's just me or something oOo:

Only thing that confused me was the people that the tripods picked up, were they being used for fuel? Other than that, the movie lept me on the edge of my seat, and I haven't had a movie do that to me in a long time.

As for the hill part, you see the tripods come up from the hill, and the missles are hitting it but exploding on their shields. If you would have seen over the hill, you would have seen the same thing just multiplied by 100. Spielberg did this intentionally, because he chose to keep the camera with Cruises character to make it more personal.
