i didnt say i know it all.

but like i said there are a million and 1 articles about the differences of openGL and Direct3d. Just as many actricle of microsoft's stuborness in regards to openGL.

dont present yourself as an authority(what if someone beleived you. then they would be wrong too.) unless you know wtf youre talking about.

I was giving information that at the time I believed to be correct, I was not trying to present myself as an authority on that particular subject. And anyone who takes anything from a forum as the gospel, and act on it without coming up with some form of reliable second opinion probably deserves whatever they've got coming to them. Last I checked, part of the idea of a "forum" is to put forth ideas, and respond intelligently to them. Not to sit back and ridicule someone for not being the Almighty all knowing tech wizard.

Neither Open GL, nor Direct X are API's that I use, and therefore I do not read much on them. I just happened to have read one article a while back that had to do with the 2 standards, and I misread it. I was only trying to lay it on the table and see what other thought of it, I certaintly wasn't looking for a spanking from you.....although it was kind of kinky...DON'T TELL MY WIFE!!!

You don't suppose he actually went a blew the $3000 just to do some modding do you??? Either really rich, or more likely found!!!

And tell the wife, you nuts...She's the quiet deadly jealous type with 12 years of kickboxing...

yummm kick boxing is cool.

and in regards to his "modding". hehe noone actually buys 3dsmax unless they do professional work. 3dsmax knows that. its part of the game.

people steal it....they either use it and get good at modeling or they get frustrated and give up(me http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif)...then if/once they go pro they buy 3dsmax because they are used to it.

Did I mention that it was thai kickboxing. It's gotta be the craziest martial art out there! She got into it when she went to Thailand when she was younger.

With respect to 3DS Max, I guess it's the same as Cold Fusion and Visual Studio. Nobody buys till you start programming professionally.

ROFLMAO

You guys have obviously confused this post with the "lets have an arguement about trivial things, call eachother names and try to get the last word in" post.

Anyway, what are my options for improving OpenGL performance, what tools are there out there that I can download. You mentioned downloading OpenGL, where from? Doesn't open GL come with my video drivers?

Come on guys, kiss and makeup and share your knowledge with me.

Mosquito 02-14-2002 10:57 AM

C'mon, your just jealous and want a piece of the action to. Seriously though, try either your video card manufacturers web page, or www.opengl.org as a start.

To help improve your OpenGL performance, download some of the latest video drivers for your video card. Also, if you have an Nvidia card and some time on your hands, there is a special modification you can make to the drivers (Quadro) to gain a few extra FPS. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
