Anyway back on topic, Quake Wars and Quake 4 all use the D3 engine right?
|
Far as im aware theyre using enhanced versions of the d3 engine, quakewars has some new feature called megatexture. Think it basically lets them use one big texture for ground textures instead of a ton of smaller ones. It also lets them have large maps like bf2 but without the distance fogging effect that bf2 has.
Can grab the trailer of it here; http://media.pc.ign.com/media/748/748377/vids_1.html Looks amazing too. better link here, http://www.doom3.alliancze.org/trailers ... kewars.zip Posted it a while back. |
I'm looking forward to Quake Wars far more than Quake 4.

Edit: The thing that struck me as very nice were how smooth the animations were in the QW trailer. |
My current system would be fine if ati would release an agp x1800xt varient, it was in their roadmap but has yet to be commented on. Pisses me off no end that to get a simple graphics upgrade i would have to buy a new mobo, and cpu THEN buy the gfx card. loney:

My sockets a 478, intel brought out lga775 to replace it earlier this year. annoy:
The x1800xt fps in open gl games will be going up soon as well, ati are tweaking its memory management and its upto 36% faster in doom 3 at the minute with fsaa enabled. |
RTCW was cool.

I was used to be extremely pro-AGP but whatever, mobos aren't that expensive. |

Its possible to get a pci-e socket 478 board but its some little no name pos so fuck that. And fuck intel up the ass for switching sockets so frequently, switching bs just to sell more motherboards. annoy: cuss: |
