uptown girl : if you cant appreciate music from all ages i dont think you should be able to appreciate it at all, despite its genre.

When have I ever claimed to be a hiphop expert? Never. That's something you yourself made me out to be....And note I said "DECENT" hiphop track. I'm actually more impressed with the singing in that song. If I thought the entire track was good I would have called it a FUCKING WICKED SONG OMG.

The second isn't even an exclusive hiphop track. It's a fusion, there is no typical format for it to follow. It's actually swayed more to the roots/dub side...And that group and the style of music is the big hype that's coming out of our country at the moment. I thought I'd offer that as a good example.

All I wanted to do with those choices was give some of you guys a sample of my countries music.

You didn't have to be a dick about it. oOo:

The uptown girl wasn't so much a reference to Billy Joel (Who I like just as much as the next guy) but more of a typical confusing Judas post, with no real intention.

Check my music collection and you'll find a variety of older singer/songwriters.

Why don't you post some music instead of just bitching about other peoples?

Judas 10-22-2005 03:25 PM

^^ wasnt really trying to be a dick. the 'expert' comment was made since i know that you have quite a bit of knowledge of hip hop. either way, not a big fan of either of those tracks. not trying to bitch either, just stating opinions. everyone has different tastes. none of those tracks appealed to me, at all.

never get sick of these guys, never. i probably listen to them 70% of the
time when i have nothing new.

The first one reminded me of the Pink Panther, but I liked the second one alot.

Some hiphop I like...

Ugly Duckling - Visions.mp3[/url:bd691]

Fun track, funky group - I've always been fond of these guys.

Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek - Memories Live.mp3[/url:bd691]

Great production, nice lyrics - This is a favourite track of mine.

Souls Of Mischief - Never No More.mp3[/url:bd691]

Typical early ninties alternative hiphop group. Decent track, off a great classic album "93' Til Infinity." I really enjoy every track on it.

People Under The Stairs - San Francisco Knights.mp3[/url:bd691]

Nice production, pretty good lyrics - I really love these guys, saw them live and it was a really amazing experience. They know their stuff, a very hard working duo and they create all their beats the old-fashioned, time consuming, analogue way.

Blackalicious - Alphabet Aerobics.mp3[/url:bd691]

Really clever song, great group - If you like this, dig into their catalogue - They're all-round a great alt hiphop group.

GZA - Fame.mp3[/url:bd691]

I think this song is really clever, I don't like the production too much though, but I guess it's okay because it doesn't take away from the lyrics too much. GZA is one of the original members of Wu-Tang.

MF Doom - Saliva.mp3[/url:bd691]

(See Sig)...True poet. My favourite MC, unpredictable, original, interesting and I just love his style.

KMD - Sorcerers.mp3[/url:bd691]

KMD is MF Doom's old group from the late 80s - early 90s, it consisted of him, his brother and a DJ. His brother, subroc X, was hit by a car at a very young age before they could get their album Black Bastards released (there were problems with the controversial cover art) as soon as he died, MF Doom (Known then as Zefluv X) went into hiding for years because of the death and came back as solo artist MF Doom. I'm not actually too sure if this is KMD era or MF Doom, because I can't find the track on any of KMD's catalogue. Either way, I really like this one.
