I have two puters, and my brother likes to play at the same time as me. It sucks big time when two cd keys cant play together (Diablo 2), I bought this game, its on my computers, its MINE. I PAID for it. I want to be able to play with two people, and not spend 70-80$ (Diablo + LOD) to be able to play with TWO. I hope they never put 1 cd key protection, as that would suck.

jujumantb 02-15-2002 07:17 AM

ya i guess gbr... it would be decreased alot... it doesnt seem to me that todays game prices are priced at giving the company a reasonable profit but rather priced at what other games are priced at... but can u blame em...
------
-ea headquarters just months before mohaa's release-
"hey, that wolfenstinemer game is selling for 60 bucks"
"ur right, and look at the sales!"
"i guess we could take advantage of it and raise our prices to match... those stupid gamers wont know any better hehehe"
-------
and yes thats how it really happened

Once agin SHELL, you stick your foot in your mouth. Seriously - do you REALLY think that's a MAJOR reason games cost so much? Please. Why not just implement the same anti-pirating technique used in OPERATION FLASHPOINT? That would keep the WAREZ down, no? As usual, you fall off the horse. It's EA and 2015's fault for not trying to put ny kind of anti-pirating method in this game, not the PIRATEERS. Sorry flapjakc, but you're wrong.

Now, as far as this little buddies concerns - I seriously dont see a problem with wht he does, except for him keeping the program on HIS computer. Which does violate the EULA.

In any case - he's gonna do it anyway, so mazel tov my friend.

Yes, it is the reason why games cost so much. Dude, if you look at the figures, you would see how warez is affecting the prices of games. Take a look at this.. http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories...848221,00.html
That my friend is a huge figure.

Well, as far as I know there is only ONE CD-KEY out there that the hackers are using. And there is NO key-check built into MOH, so they dropped the ball on that one.

dude those stats are produced to make us keep wanting to pay 50 bucks for a game its simple to see that its just like music cd's the average price is supposed to drop to 11 bucks or something per cd to do what u ask?? to prevent piracy the music industry figured it out now its time for the gamming community to figure it out and ill tell ya right now more people steal music then games http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif so until i can get a new game at a constant 20 bucks or less ill always buy from my buddies oversead 10 bucks a game 5 bucks or less shipping and i will never feel bad about it since it cost like just 5 bucks or less to make a frickin game cd and if they sell 100,000 copies at 10 bucks they get a million off that more then enuf to pay all those salaries of the people who make it and design it not to mention the money they make when companies buy there game to promote shit

Kakorott makes a good point. True alot of $ is being lost to piracy, but keep in mind that those figures are based on the original $50 game in the first place ! So this is a true complex chicken and egg problem if we continue to discuss price and piracy. What we need to do is analyze the costs into making a damn game. Taking an conservative average of 500,000 copies being sold at $50/piece, that would come out to $25,000,000. Now minus royalties, distribution, licenscing, worker salaries, and packaging costs (which is very minimal, just copying from CD to CD).

You try to make your own conclusions if all those things justify a conservative estimate of $25M earned.
