most insurance companies will only give you the depreciated value of the vehicle

Ends up with that accident that he had taken it off insurance just 2 weeks before as he was storing it for the winter. It was just after new years or something and it was out on the road so visitors could park in the driveway. So he ended up getting nothing

If the car is appraised (like a friend of mines 91 golf) then they will give you almost or the amount of what the aprraisal was. In this case they put a 25k value on his. (pearl paint job, vr6 turbo engine, rare skirt package, thousands of multimedia inside it, + 2000 $ rims and rubber.) His golf was stolen, and all the found was the frame in a lakeshore warehouse.
