EDIT - nvm.... when will yahoo pick the draft order?

Chronic Diarrhea 07-05-2006 10:57 PM

Slightly off-topic, but I entered a league just to see what the draft was like. I was at work the entire time, and I used the default selection lineup. Here's what I got:

Bulger, Marc QB STL
Johnson, Larry RB KC (I was 4th pick overall lol)
Parker, Willie RB PIT
Horn, Joe WR NO
Jackson, Darrell WR SEA
Davis, Vernon TE SF
Vanderjagt, Mike K DAL
Buccaneers, DST

reserves:

Plummer, Jake QB DEN
McAllister, Deuce RB NO
Bennett, Drew WR TEN
Givens, David WR TEN
Smith, Alex TE TB
Jaguars, DST DST JAC

Good Quarterbacks
Good Runningbacks
Average Receivers
Average Tight Ends
Average Kicker
Decent Defenses

You'll probally finish around 5-6. Your runningbacks will be good point guys during the season but your quarterbacks which generally produce a huge chunk are lacking. If Plummer can repeat like last season then you should be in good shape. As for your recievers, Jackson is alright, Horn is good if healthy and Bennet/Givens are on the same team which means a bad day for the Titans can hurt you....and its the Titans so dont be suprised.

probably 30 min before the draft. I tried to combat it last year by settingit by drawing names. of course pyro cried more than my kid so im letting it auto set.

GG draft strategy

LOL why did Pyro care so much? Whether you have a high 1st rd pick or a low 1st rd pick, there are advantages to both. I've planned my draft picks out for both scenarios.

Either that or Ill record the draft lottery selection and post it up here. LOL

anybody interested in a keeper's league?

Pyro 07-06-2006 03:14 PM

cuz it's just convinent that the guy who drew the names got first pick.

and cuz of that first pick i lost a week just cuz of that guy cuz he got like...1 of every kind of touchdown.

yep nevermind the fact that I picked up carson palmer, had Torry Holy, Steve Smith, and traded for lamont jordan, tony gonzalez, warrick dunn and darrel jackson all combined with pittsburghs defense.

names were drawn fairly no matter how hard you want to believe elsewise

ZOMG my *real* pick is up on the clock now (8th OVR). I have 24 hours to make my pick. Am I a bad enough dude to pick either:

Cadillac Williams or:

Edgerrin James or:

another back who is better (exclude Johnson, LT, Shaun, Tiki, and Portis)?

you have the 8th pick and only Johnson LT SHaun and Tiki are gone o_O

Id lean towards Edge, Stephen Jackson, Lamont, Jordan or Ronnie Brown.

In that Order with maybe brown ahead of Jordan

Portis and Rudi Johnson > Jackson ect

I would take Edge.

Chronic Diarrhea 07-06-2006 10:04 PM

On second thought I think Edge is going to have a crappy year with the Cardinals. Their OL is pretty bad; nothing like what he is used to in IND.

Steven Jackson, Rudi Johnson, or Lamont actually all seem like better choices now. I have another pick in 5 picks after this so I'm trying to anticipate who will take who. It's almost certain that both Brown and Cadillac will both be gone, and I want one of those guys. But then that would leave Steven Jackson, Rudi, LaMont, or Edge left by my nect pick(possibly). I think LaMont may slip down further than usual. I'm taking 3 backs in a row this year, because we can start 2 RBs and a flex position. I think it's most certain that another QB will be taken (2 have gone this Rd) and one, maybe two WRs will go (Owens and Moss).

Now that I look at it that way, I'm leaning towards Steven Jackson. He's a workhorse, big guy, and can do many things with the ball. Plus he has a lot of weapons around him to open up the lanes. What do you think about me taking Jackson first, even ahead of Edge or the others.

Positives

* Perfect mix of size, power and quickness
* Team focused on getting the ball into his hands this season
* Rams have a pretty strong run-blocking offensive line

Negatives

* Veteran Marshall Faulk may stick around to steal some touches
* He hasn’t proven he can handle a full 20+ carry per game workload at the NFL level
* It isn’t known yet how smoothly the switch to a more conventional offense will ultimately be

St Louis was 29th in the league in rushing attempts in 05, running the ball just 37% of plays. Even so, Jackson racked up 1,054 yards rushing, 8 TDs in 15 games at 4 yards a carry.
