I don't think it's just to have people "punished" by living in those conditions. I don't think the living quarters are the reason why they have better systems, but if they were, I wouldn't care. I'm not paying for a criminal to have nicer quarters than me, it's as simple as that--it's not right.

It is about rehabilitation. Not Punishment. If you throw someone into an enviroment like San.Q, What do you get in return ? Someone worse ! Who will leave the system, and re-offend.(This in return costs you more money) NOW this luxury prison is not the solution here in North America, but it is an example we should look apon to slowly change it here, and develope it into a state where this could be acceptable.

haha fuck that, alright, next midterm paper my works cited page will just say "proove me wrong".
im not saying its an incorrect statement, i have never seen such records, but i KNOW you made it up in an attempt to make a point that you couldnt back up otherwise, its a pretty standard internet debate technique, im quite the veteran at it myself.

using your body weight is for girls.. 8-12 reps = mass.

back on topic.. seems like a waste of money.. dont need all that fancy crap for rehabilitation.

Douchetallica 04-11-2007 01:13 AM

Prisons in general are a waste of money. Our tax money is being spent to house the inmates and feed them while they waste away.

Put them to work or do community service during the day.

You're right. Fuck if I've ever seen a prison where they make inmates go out and pick up trash on highways, or do outdoors work around the city. oOo: oOo:

Yeah it would be a great solution to have DANGEROUS CRIMINALS OUT AND ABOUT DAY TO DAY....and it wouldnt cost the taxpayers at all to have guards watching them 24-7.

....If there are no prisons, where are they going to sleep, eat and shit?

If I remember correctly, not only is there a sentence of community service in most court systems around the world, but most prisons take their prisoners out to do work, or in house make them work already.

jujumantb 04-11-2007 03:47 PM

minor offences that dont warrant jail time almost always have a tone of community service hours attached, its only major offences and people deemed a threat to their community who get jail time. jail is a place to to reflect on what you did, most everyone who goes to jail here in america will tell you its the worst experience of their life and will do anything to not go back. repeat offences, i would say, are more a result of poverty mixed with culturally driven poor choices than our jail system.

I think you're right. You always see guys on cops saying "I can't go back, I don't want to go back, man" Nobody wants to go back to jail, but they end up there because they take up crime in an attempt to escape poverty. Either that or they just can't give up bad habits or hanging with bad influences.

That was the first semi-not biased post I've ever read from you.

Good point, but I'd imagine the cultural differences in Austria are a lot less than the cultural, social, and lingual differences in America. It's called a melting pot for a reason, and people are still not over the fact that they're different from everybody else, so there's still a lot of hate floating around. Some.... a lot of people in America are pretty fucked in the head and the only way to make them not want to go back to prison sometimes is to have them leave with an asshole they can fit a watermelon into.

We do have minimum security prisons aswell here too, that are light and breezy on the inmates, it's not like they're all Federal "fuck you in the ass" prisions. /office space
