Yep. 2K5 felt more like an actual football game than any Madden game did. The animations, the speed of the game, the gang tackling, proper blocking, no RBs getting stuck on linemen, no DBs jumping 10 feet in the air to intercept every pass, no 70 speed players magically running down a 95 speed player, the list goes on...

anyone have the game yet?

Cpt. Obvious 07-17-2007 10:08 PM

Yeah I got it last night. Sorry for not posting earlier, I had a busy day.

The game is by far the best of the series albeit it does have it flaws though. The worse flaws I see are pretty much cosmetic and don't affect the game play. The sidelines hurt the realistic appeal of the game. There are about 20 players on each sidelines with generic uniforms and faces. They all just stand around and clap randomly. Also the snow seems very unrealistic. If falls heavily on the field but once its there its seems undisturbed with no footprints or movement of any kind.

As for gameplay the defense is much improved but almost to improved. Interceptions are very frequent but I guess that will go away with more experience. The biggest hang up I have is that injuries are to frequent.

But overall I would get the game an 8.7. Its far from perfect but it is very enjoyable. A must buy for any College Football fan.

I skipped last years game, but in 04 and 05, they had a problem with WR's dropping wide open balls in the open field... is that still in?

Cpt. Obvious 07-17-2007 10:17 PM

No, WR still drop the occasional ball but nothing like it used to be.

Edit:

Here are some of my vids:

The game feels much more finished than last years. My only complaint really is the graphics, they are pretty bad, the paintings on the field (ie team names in the end zone or the team symbol at half field look horrible, very jagged and discolored looking. or is it just my Xbox acting up and not loading them very good?) I mean the graphics are good, but defiantly seem like i am playing on a regular Xbox.

The group tackles look good, and the animations look better than last year. And teams play you hard now, the better the team the harder the game is, even at the Varsity level.

Yeah they cut the game down in the graphics department but they did improved the performance and feel of the game.

is that on the next-gen too? because some people are saying it is the opposite on the next gen (great graphics with less extras then old gen), while the old-gen systems (xbox and ps2) are basically what you said (poor graphics with usual extras).

I know for a fact that the new gen doesn't have 1AA teams, which doesn't surprise me as EA would probably remove features and call them new next year.

That they did, it does feel better and it runs very smoothly, constant 60FPS.

Blitz in NCAA 07 the gfx were better on the 360, i think they are a little worse this year.

Sports games have never been known for hardcore graphics. Look at FPS games coming out (like COD 4) and then look at any sports game coming out this year, and probably next year, and probably the year after that. They still won't be close to the quality we're seeing in COD 4, Crysis, Killzone 2, etc.

dont know why everyone is bigging killzone 2 up - i mean why would we want a second killzone when the first blew.

You could say the same about a lot of games that were actually good that followed bad prequels.
