Looking good, just hope its not a direct dumbed down for console pc port over that we get. And heres hoping the multi on the pc requires more than just spamming grenades like call of duty 2. |
What I saw at IW over the summer was very impressive. Not only the game play but what they have done with the Q3 engine.
I really wish they would release a video of a lighting and environmental demo they showed us in real time. While I have tremendous respect for the IW devs now (after spending the day with them) they "get it". However with all that said, and a SP only demo coming out, I have to say "WTF". If anything EA and Airborne taught us : If a dev does not release any info and or a demo on the platform (sp/mp not gaming) we are interested in, wait before preordering or purchasing. |
Iw though had more than their fair share of criticisms with cod 2, that game was heavily consolised and the initial patch took ages in coming out.
Suprised theyre still using a modded quake 3 engine for this though, thought they would have moved on to something else like UE3 by now. |
Wait to you see what they've done with with the old engine.
funny, IW does not like talking about CoD2, which they where forced to make, as they wanted to do, what now is known as CoD4. don't even mention CoD3 in front of grant or the rest of the dev team. Lets just say they don't care too much for that game. |

This was the most satisfying demo i ever played, the graphics are phenomenal, it runs great, there is so much action its awesome, its an excellt game and defiantly on my need to get list. I suggest everyone DL it

After playing airborne it did feel a bit restricted i thought. You're funnelled down the same path everytime with the same scripted sequences every time. That guy jumping out in the stairway for example, its a nice touch but after seeing it once you know exactly what to expect next time.
Its nice to see they have ragdoll and more moveable objects in the environment though, cod2 felt very static in that respect. I hope for multi that the guns have more recoil than the sp, if not theres not gonna be much need for sniper rifles. Seen some people already comparing it to serious sam with the massive horde of enemies that comes at you in that level. Suprising to think this is the same modified quake 3 engine though. Just hope that because of the engine its not open to the same bs wallhacks etc that cod2 was. A multiplayer demo would probably have been a better demo type to release, right now im not bowled over by the sp but the multi could be good. |
Demo was alright. Looked good. It is short, but the main problem I have is with weapon recoil and accuracy. Just seems too easy. And every shot sounds kind of insignificant. A little thud. Nothing more. Beef it up a bit.
Now that I think about it more, it feels more like every other CoD game i've played. Gerv is right. It's very linear. I thought we were supposed to be getting away from those types of scripted games. I'll buy it, but it'll probably end up like Airborne. Played it through once and haven't touched it since because it's the same every time you go through it. Hopefully MP has something to offer, but i'm not a huge MP guy. I prefer SP to tell you the truth. |
Yeah the weapons did sound pretty weak, kinda reminded me of halo 3 and the fisher price sounding guns. Quakewars also started out with weak firing sounds but that was beta months before release so there was time to change them. This close to release id say this games already off being duplicated and packaged.
