Well let me explain. If it wasnt a sequel (besides the story not making sense), it would be a pretty good movie, and it was still decent, I just like to disagree with people, especially nyck. But what I was disappointed with was that the mood just wasnt the same as the original. It didnt have that eerie creepiness that the first one had, which is what I enjoyed most about the film. I've never been into zombie films though, maybe from that perspective it was pretty good.

i thought the mood was spot on considering it was a new director. he did an amazing job matching the original in comparison to other sequel/prequel combos out there. infact i actually felt like it was the closest sequel to an original film with two different directors that i had seen (in terms of tone).

Also you need to think in this mindset

28 days later was creepier because if you put yourself into the mindset of the main character you had no idea WTF was going on and why this happened. you have no idea how widespread it was and that there was life beyond your city.

However in 28 weeks later we do know, we know that it was activists releasing monkeys infected with it, we knew that it was quarantined into only england and that it was contained by the military. However its released and your story now plays a lot on emotions and decisions and their impact on the people. The sniper had a decision on weather to kill everyone like he was told. Look at what happened when the pilot wouldnt alllow the survivors on the helo. look how it affected his friend the army sniper etc.

Thats what I liked about this film

also i reckon the opening sequence in the sequel is better and more intense than any one part of the first movie. but on the whole, the first is superior - but not the greatest movie by any means.
