Personally, I'm undecided.

I don't think they wanted to join the states, but create their own country like Quebec wanted to do. There are still people arguing that position.

The only thing we truly have the most in common...both our countries are run by complete morons.

ninty 11-07-2002 08:55 PM

Canada has a lot more in common with Australia than it does with the US. Just thought i'd point that out for some reason.

Innoxx 11-07-2002 08:56 PM

Well, this thread has proven my theory; no Canadian want to join the U.S. Thank you sirs. Now how about joining with Britain, Australia, and New Zealand, where all the nations are equals, and all of them togather are one huge empire?

ninty 11-07-2002 10:24 PM

No way. We sort of have that now with the commonwealth. I'm not sure if I entirley support it. The British Empire is dead. I don't want to join any country. Long live Canada.

You're not joining, you're uniting as one nation, and if you unite, you can become the most powerful nation in the world.

ninty 11-07-2002 10:44 PM

OK uniting, whatever.

I still say no. I doubt we would be the most powerful. Britain adding Canada, Australia and NZ will only increase its military manpower by maybe 150,000 if that. It would be too hard to conrol all the different parts. The logistics of it are terrible. It would still seem as each "state" would still be a country because of geographic location. Anyway, if Britain was attacked Canada, Aus. NZ would all be there anyway. As well as the US. So really the allies are like one big country. If you exclude Iraq of course since were all divided on that.

All in all I don't really see any benifits in it.

mr.miyagi 11-07-2002 10:49 PM

who has the sexier women?

CANADA

OR

AMERICA

(im already decided on this issue, so...)

Old Reliable 11-07-2002 10:52 PM

uhmm... Wer ARE already sorta are with the brits. A lil thing called the commonwealth... lol

yeah it would be awsome, i think if it were to happen it would haveta be here in can tho, second largest land mass and all.. Good ol churchill had a backup plan should the brits get fucked up real bad. Infact my friend just informed me it was the never surrender speech. Listen closely about ssailing to the new land. that would be here.

i think the question is who has the skankier women.. *cough*america*cough*

Remember, we still have fresh water and somewhat fresh air. It really effects peoples looks when they have decent air and water.

Tripper 11-07-2002 10:58 PM

NZ, Aus & Canada have already gone to aid the crown 3 times, without question, in the last century, when no threat presented itself to the the nations themselves....Thats loyalty. I think there is a lot less of that going around these days.....I'd fight for the crown. I love being a part of the commonwealth. Leaving now would mean all thos poor souls who fought in the two world wars, and the boer war, would have fought for pretty much nothing, seeing as no real threat (Excluding Pacific in WW2) presented itself to the rest of the commonwealth.

Boer war we went just cause the british told us to. WWI we went just cause the british told us to, WWII was different though. This really was a threat to freedom. Imagine if Hitler had won against the Russians. Imaging if he had invaded Britain and was successful. After those two are gone, next step is the rest of us. Canada, US and the japs would go for Aus and NZ.

Believe me, if someone attacked the Brits or Aus or NZ i'd totally go to kick their ass, just like what happened to teh States. I don't think you do it for the commonwealth, I think you do it because we all share something in common. We all want to have our freedom and be allowed to do whatever it is we do in our daily livs. And when thats compromised, I would go to war. I wouldn't go to war because the Queen told me to. There is a big difference between an allie getting attacked and the queen telling me to go to war.

Pyro 11-07-2002 11:33 PM

Boer War 1899-19-- I forget...took that in Grade 10 history

I think they fought in south africa I believe, and yes because we were forced.

not really forced. At that time we weren't actually a country but british colonies. sooooo if ya wanna look at it that way, we went to war because OUR people were at war.

[quote:b0495]I don't think you do it for the commonwealth, I think you do it because we all share something in common. [/quote:b0495]

Ya...Hence, Commonwealth...

Thats what I meant...And I think that is why most of the soldiers went to war...Because Britain, an allie, was threatened. Not so much because the queen told them to, as you say...

ninty 11-08-2002 09:13 PM

I suppose. biggrin:
