hey, nothing wrong with ja rule, swollen membrane or slitpop

I went for present because it has better quality music. And there are re-mixes of older songs to make them sound better.
I only likle rap if it is dissing someone, or if there is a LOT of swearing in it, or if someone dies as the result of singing it. Otherwise, i like rock... Any kind. |

60-70s cause it has the trippiest music, and some of the best songs |

Ok, to bring this thread back on topic, i'm gonna vote 80's & 90's as the best musical era for me. Now, before i give my reasons, i'll state this. I'm a music lover.....i listen to all kinds of musical genres and from all different decades but the 80's & 90's hold the most musical memories for me. I learned a long time ago from my late StepFather to have an open mind when it came to music.....no catagory of music is better than the other...it just goes by what people were exposed to so if you like Country, you shouldn't knock someone who likes Rap.
With that said, i grew up with 80's Freestyle & 90's Club. Now, i'm almost sure not a single person here can give me an example of what 80's Freestyle is but it was big where i came from. Anyway, nowadays i try to keep up with the new music movement but i have a hard time with hip-hop & rap. I generally stick to new rock and any new club. For the past few years, TOOL has been my fav. band and i listen to them on a daily basis. But like i said earlier, i listen to a wide variety of music...as a matter of fact, as i write this, i'm listening to [Skyy - "Call Me"]..an early 80's dance tune. Remember, don't knock what others like and keep an open mind.....you'll enjoy music for what it really is. |
Can't forget hair metal.

|
80s to Present.
I love Metallica, but I also love today's rock. |
60s - 70s
and Buckweed is into mainstream rap, don't bother with him. |

Nope, didn't know that. Thanks for the history lesson. |
70s-80s for sure. Iron Maiden's big decade for sure, but they're better than ever now!
I love 80s hair metal...Dokken, Ratt, Motley Crue...all that shit rawks! Zone |
Not to mention Led Zepplin.
|
[quote:fd69c]Not to mention Led Zepplin.
[/quote:fd69c] damn Led Zeppelin was and is the best band ever hands down. imho |
Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Glenn Miller Band, Louis Armstrong angel:
|
Lots of good hiphop came out of the eighties....Infact, most great hiphop is from the late eighties, early ninties....Lets do the list:
Stetsasonic - early 80s GrandMaster Flash & The Furious Five Eric B & Rakim - Rakim is strill considered one of the best MC's ever to clutch a mic. A Tribe Called Quest - Need I say more? Kool Keith Afrika Bambaata Main Source The Pharcyde Gang Starr Public Enemy De La Soul Brand Nubian Todays hiphop is great too...Check out the true school scene. I've been indulging in a lot of Jazz these days....Same kind of stuff as your list, Old Reliable. Stuff like, Miles Davis, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Charlie Bird Parker. I never knew music without lyrics could be so damn interesting to listen too. Have you heard much Brasiliana Jazz? Some good stuff....Serge Mendez & Brasil 66, I love it, it's really loungy. My favourite rock artists will always be those out of the grunge era. I enjoy some mid-70s groups too. Peter Frampton is brilliant, so are Deep Purple & Foghat. |
Don't forget Digital Underground.
|
Never heard of digital underground...I forgot Digable Planets, which I regret, seeing as I really like them.
