My family from both sides sprouted from Ireland, England, Germany and Poland.

Scottish, Irish and French are the most prominent.
I also have Swiss, Italian and American in me. But of my Dads side, i'm like 10th generation Canadian, so to find the European stuff you have to go back to the 1600's. I pretty much call myself Canadian though. |

Well sorrrrry I did'nt know it was such a big fucking deal, English then. And yes I do know that Scotland is part of Great Britain, Alot of the time the English are called Brits, or British.[/quote:ccc96] its not BIG fucking deal, but it is a deal and its fucking so its there. And anyway thats exactly my point, the English are refered to as brits or british, and it mostly seems to be by the americans. "The british are coming!" springs to mind. but the irish welsh and scots were busy farming while the english were in one of their "lets expand the empire again" moods. Brits and british is the irish welsh scots and english together. united as Great Britian (though its really not that great) Should be renamed OK Britian. |

Might have to rent that out for a laugh. What gets me is they still call it "great britain" wtf is so great about it these days? Sure when they owned most of the world thay had bragging rights but now? oOo: |
the great part is to tell those of you that have any kind of geographical back ground that the title refers in fact to 2 islands and not just one otherwise it would be britain

Well there was a program on a few weeks back debating why it should still be called "great britain" or not anymore. They basically said theres nothing great about it anymore so drop the name already. |
110% Irish!

Eddie Izzard is the FUNNIEST bastard ever. I love the way he uses a lot of history into his act. Classic. Very modern person. He does very well with mimes too. He has a stab at everyone, British, American, Welsh. What he says about Pavlovs Dog's is hilarious.
Anyway my family. Let's see. Well My Dad's father is Irish and my dad's mother was of German origins (though she had been Australian for generations). My Mum's mother is Irish and her Father is...Irish. So I guess I'm 75% Irish and 25%German or 90% Irish and 10% German....no wait....oh goddamn I'm shit at maths. |

My Father is Australian, my Mother's English, and I am proudly Australian.
And to weigh into the Great Britain vs United States arguement, i'd like to quote part of an interview once had with the great John Cleese. I should firstly prefix this with two things. Firstly, the interviewer is American. Secondly, the interview was done while Clinton was still President. <Interviewer>In comparison to the United States, what's so "Great" about Great Britain? <Cleese>Well firstly, we speak English. Secondly, when we hold a "World" sporting competition, we invite other countries to participate, and thirdly, when we greet our head of state, we only have to go down on one knee... Rule Brittania all the way, baby biggrin: |
99% belgian 1% spanish

[/quote:c3770] lol, he has a point......fuck it. I'm goin back to Ireland! Goddamned americans and your "World Series" I mean cmon, wheres the Lithuaniun and Nigerian teams? Much less the Irish team. Face it, the Irish team would come in drunk and bean every american batter like 400 times each. The Americans would have to forfeit because they have no players left. Oh so your too good to play with others huh...your toys are yours and you dont share ya WANKERS!!!!!!!! |

World series is just a name. Oh and not only American teams play in it your forgetting the two Canadian based teams the Montreal Expos, and the Toronto Blue Jays.
