Over spring break i meet these english guys who stayed a few doors down in the same complex. guess they were supposed to be soccer holigans(or at least thats what they said they were). they were completed assholes, making rude comments about everyone right out in the open, yelling at waiters, the maids, everyone. then they would getting fucking drunk on 3 cans of bud or something. i meet a different group of english people from another resort, they were nice, polite, and after talking for the better part of half and hour they invited me to dinner with them.

just goes to show anyone can be an asshole

I've actually been about again for a couple of months but I haven't started posting on this OT forum until just recently with all this war stuff.

I was never really an OT poster before, it's just that the general forum is dead these days. What's left to be said?

It really is a shame that a majority of Americans are so ignorantly uncultured and ill-informed about the rest of the world.

I've made an effort to take a world studies course every semester, I can speak German with a believable south-German accent/dialect, I speak French well, but with an obvious American accent. I can also speak and/or understand a considerable amount of Spanish (European), Portuguese (Brasilian), Russian, and Czech.

All that being said, I am still assumed to be an ignorant asshole until proven otherwise any time I come in contact with a foreigner. And that can very seriously affect my opinion.

I just think if all these other countries want to bash us for being racist, stereotypists, they need to take a very good look in the mirror first.

Maybe people are just assholes when they are on vacation???? I live an hour from Disney World and go to one of the parks there at least one time a year. I see basically the same thing you described with other nationalities. Most people there are assholes, even the Americans. You also notice some of the other stereotypes other nationalities have. Especially the people who's countries don't believe in deodorant.
