Sorry, im not too good at this thing...gimmie a few days. happy:

i dont understand how its so easy to hate america and distrust the government when the US is the most benevolent country in the world
*this is not a nationalistic rant and/or editorial comment by another self-righteous american but i do know our history and if you had to list the US in either evil or benevolent terms, i know that we have had our grubby paws in alot of messed up situations throughout the world but after helping to rebuild japan after WWII, sending Aid to all parts of the globe (Somalia, Ethiopia etc etc), sending aid and troops to stop the murdering of innocents (Kosovo, Haiti, Kuwait, Iraq), why does America automatically become the "evil empire builder" whenever someone dies/gets hurt and there is an American within 5 miles? america is not sinless especially in the 20th century but you are going to have to a long way to try and convince me that the nation as a whole would elect leaders in order to fuck over the rest of the planet as a matter of sport. to the credit of the defense dept, they were the ones that came forward and started investigating Abu Ghraib back in january, no matter what cnn wants to say about being the first to get their hands on the story i dont believe the video to be false but i also can't believe that people think the US would use something so horrific to divert people's attention to mistakes the US military is doing its best to try and make right (versus covering it up) of all the political systems tried throughout the world, democracy (all forms of it) stands at the top of the heap, in spite of its flaws. without gov't, the world would be in chaos (notice i didnt say: without the US GOVT) and I for one try to see the US presence in Iraq as sincerely trying to help the world be a better place and not a war for oil/ revenge for daddy/ wiping out islam/ creating a 51st US state in the middle east i guess its time to sit back and wait for everyone to tell me what a *insert pithy insult commenting on my IQ here* i am for what i believe |
sorry dude, gotta say it but you're brainwashed by the bush administration.
|
Whatever the case, Bush isn't in on it.
1-he is too stupid 2-he is trying to get re-elected |

not the world...change iraq, and they are failing at it miserably. its gonna take longer than a year to get iraq at a "liveable state" . I dont think bush has what it takes to make iraq the way he sees it should be[/quote] |

blame america first was started long before the "brainwashing" by the bush administration and your statement is just thematic of what i am talking about...inherently distrusting the government and whatever administration is currently in power. did i agree with what clinton did in two terms? probably not in most cases. did i believe america getting involved in places like Kosovo, Somalia to be because of evil intentions? misguided maybe (bombs falling on baghdad at the same time clinton was in the process of being inpeached for rogering the fat intern) but not evil its alot easier to be brainwashed by the liberal pov than the conservative pov in this country because unlike the liberal pov on every major network/cable news source except fox news and every major newspaper besides the wall street journal and the washington post, being brainwashed by the right takes an awful lot of effort. being brainwashed by the left takes no effort at all. |
i dont read such media, in fact i'm neither liberal nor conservative. these two words have come to mean the same thing over the past few years. but still, your view is not unique and just repeats the exact same things of the bush administration.
|
everyone has their opinion, we just dont see that many people around here that have the same views that bush does
|
and i can respect that, I'm fine with the fact that not everyone believes what i believe. but if "brainwashed" means that i choose to see the positive things about america vs the negative stuff (political affiliations aside), i guess im guilty.
|
Dont worry Chappy, 3/4's of the people here are anti-war and anti-bush. You get used to it after a while...
|
now for something totally offtopic: nice sig guarnere

you've got the arrogant tone right when you talk about "liberal elitist". youre called a liberal elitist because you've so lost touch with reality that you believe that the world is made up of you and your cronies who like kings in the 17th and 18th century stood by the idea that they had been created by God to rule their respective countries and then there were the rest of us poor idiots.
read "Bias" by Bernard Goldberg, a 30 year veteran of CBS News and a self-proclaimed lib who finally figured out that his network slanted just a tad to the left if you don't believe in the lopsided "objectivity" in the media [url:88421]http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0895261901/002-6908602-6294436?v=glance[/url:88421] i do appreciate the moral equivalent you draw between conservatives and child molestors but just remember the ACLU, a well-known liberal institution is defending members of NAMBLA so they can publicly share their joy of buggering little boys...elite indeed |
