Aren't you guys issued some sort of Vest similar to ours?

Not the reserves...or should i say Delta Company 4th LAR isnt. But yes our active duty Marines get the very latest and greatest gear.

Even then our gear isnt better than the Armys gear. They have the latest and greatest. We are slowly getting gear as good as the army. Problem is we are a Dept. of the Navy so the toal amount of money the navy is given by the Gov't each year for spending on buying equipment and things, only a little portion of it is given to the Marines. Hence we are the poorest branch.

Doctor Duffy 02-17-2005 08:08 PM

All you need is a rifle, a helmet, and you're ready to go.

Much better than the olive green army uniforms and the navy blue navy uniforms.

Screw uniforms, kill in the nude.

ninty 02-17-2005 08:19 PM

Hey man, I hea ya.

Last year I was walking around with all '82 pattern gear. Olive Drab uniform and the works.

It's just recently that we're getting all this new stuff. Reg force guys on operation have had this stuff for a while.

Look at all this shit that you get when you go on op:

Maplegyver 02-17-2005 08:25 PM

that coats got a wicked hood, bud dont you think it eould limit your field of view?

ninty 02-17-2005 08:29 PM

Yeah, but if its cold out and your in a trench or something, you can cover your arcs still.

This guy is wearing everything:
Ballistic/frag vest, Tac vest, ballistic goggles, the works:

This guys has the small pack and rucksack:

The rucksack is actually adjustable from 22" - 28" tall. So if your short you can scrunch it up. Its' got an 80L capacity. the bitch is HUGE.

Doctor Duffy 02-17-2005 08:29 PM

Rofl, that looks so like Kenny.

thats 1337, its awesome how your bayonet is right in the middle.

Doctor Duffy 02-17-2005 08:32 PM

Is that guy fat or is it all the gear he has on?

ninty 02-17-2005 08:35 PM

Bayonet is way better there than when it was on the webbing belt. We had a guy go down on our winter ex because he fell and the bayonet stabbed him right in the kidney. he had to be evaced.

Wow, smart, so now if this guy falls over, he has a chance of the bayonet stabbing him in the heart.

ninty 02-17-2005 08:38 PM

No. Trust me. It won't. You don't bend on your ribs. that part is always straight, so the bayonet is always flat against your chest. oOo:

I get to do this on Saturday:
http://www.combatcamera.forces.gc.ca/ph ... 3-6038.jpg
A high explosive anti-tank round from an 84mm Carl Gustav is fired down-range as members of Charles Company, 3 Royal Canadian Regiment Battalion Group (3RCR BG), hone their skills at a range outside Kabul. The soldiers are serving in Kabul, Afghanistan, as part of OP ATHENA, ROTO 0. Op ATHENA is Canada's contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the United Nations-authorized mission in Kabul, Afghanistan. Operation ATHENA began in August 2003 and is currently scheduled to end late summer 2004. The mission of ISAF is to maintain security in Kabul and its surrounding areas so the Afghan Transitional Authority and UN agencies can begin rebuilding the country. At this time, ISAF comprises 5,500 troops from 31 different nations.
