BattleField 1942 and Vietnam both have Coop. |
I really think its bullshit that we don't get a co-operative mode in more pc fps games. We dont have to go through xbox live or whatever, for us its just starting a co-op game giving a friend an ip to join and boom away you go. annoy:
All the devs have to do is make it so more enemies appear and double the powerups\health packs, how hard is that really? Im sure theres more to it than that but if doom can be co-op on xbox live then the pc version should also have it. |

Ya it does, you can set up a multi game having one team full of bots, and human players on the other team. Pretty pointless really seeing as the bots usually stand around scratching their ass while you puncture their kidneys with a well placed knife. |
resurection of bad trailer.

lol at the grav. gun hake:

meh, F.E.A.R still owns Doom 3.

Far as i know its labelled as co-op in the game option, seeing as bf doesn't really have any other modes of play that dont involve a load of bots it is co-op to a degree i suppose. |

But that is just playing multiplayer maps with bots. I would love to see coop for Doom 3. One guy with the shotty the other with the chaingun. |

yeah that would be nice...more games should be coop..

halo & halo 2 owned on co-op, hopefully doom 3 should be equally pleasing.
edit: http://www.xbox.com/en-us/doom3/default ... vel3=doom3 [quote:1d8db]Full versions of the original ULTIMATE DOOM™ and DOOM II®. Play the classic single-player campaigns, or play split-screen co-op or deathmatch with two to four players on one Xbox®. [/quote:1d8db] rock: plus has content download option so maybe it might bid for more maps for multiplayer or so on. |
when shall halo 2 join the PC fraternaty? Why is there no PC coop?

In terms of engines, id say doom 3 shits all over source, ive heard the source engine best described as an engine dating from 2002 with a lot of shader support tossed in. At the same time source is more moddable than the doom 3 engine, one modder working on a doom 3 mod stated that without the source code it was only possible to make mods that resembled doom 3 with the lighting etc.
Source has those stuttering bugs which date back to when the game was fitst shown at e3-2003, doom 3 is prety bug free and doesn't have anything thats as obvious as the stuttering that source suffers from. I think source is more of an engine for here and now and can be expanded on pretty easy, doom 3 is an engine that will be around longer and probably get used for more retail games. Id love to see a ww2 game using that engine. People said the same thing about the quake 3 engine, "it cant do large outdoor maps" etc, rtcw and moh:aa proved that theory well wrong with some of their maps, omaha being the first that springs to mind for allied assault. It'll be same with the doom 3 engine, just has a few technical hurdles that they need to work around for larger outdor areas. |
damn gerv, i love reading your posts. they make me smarter.

Speaking of hl2 theres a mod now for "bloom effect" lighting. If you go directly under a lght source or whatever it blurs realistically like its overbright and affecting your vision.

Seems to be about the same for me, Havn't really played hl2 in a bit so maybe it is a bit longer.
|
I haven't tried it yet. I just heard from a lot of people that it really hurts loading times.
