it says 5-6 mins, so I don't know. I manage NFL-like yardage with these sliders, so maybe they will work.

And also, regarding my running game, I do use (in my view) the worst playbook in the game so that might be a reason why I suck. It's the Oregon State playbook, which uses the ace formation to death. I don't even think they have the Shotgun, and practically all the passing plays use Play Action (which results in a sack 70% of the time). Any one know of a good playbook that utilizes a pocket type QB with a power-running back? A spread offense playbook would be nice as well. Thanks

What also pisses me off is that there isn't really a "tackle button." Theres the big hit button, which rarely occurs when you press it. The square button (diving tackle) works, but sometimes your player will just bounce off, or just blatantly dive in the opposite direction. I know to tackle you have to run into the player, and the game will do the animation for you, but half the time the guy just bounces off the opponent or just doesn't even react as he is supposed to. The "pinball" affect really is bad in this game.

ohio state has a nice playbook , i played texas in a regular game to get a feel for what im in store for with these sliders and vince young #10 is freaking unstoppable ...

i use the "option run" playbook, but i edit it to use Ace, I-Form, Wing-T, and Shotgun formations, by chaning from ace/iform to shotgun and to goalline it confuses the defense alot and i usually gash them at least every 2-3 plays.

KTOG 07-31-2005 10:50 PM

I do like the NCAA games over Madden. The biggest problem though with sports games is that they are random. I like to get good at video games, instead of having a 76% chance of reception i want to have a 100% because I am such a fucking good video game rockstar.

yeah, but it's not the real names though... its good for dynasty though, so I don't have to wait till year 5 before I can start importing rosters to Madden (since I don't like seeing HB #4 of Texas play for the Cardinals when HB #4 of Maryland play for the Patriots).

rdeyes 08-01-2005 10:28 AM

thats why i did it , what team are you using blitz ?

Yep, it's the first thing I listed about this game.

I've been able to stop it though by swaitching to the CB on the left side of the field (left side from the camera's view) and shifting over to the right a little bit. When the passing screen comes up I hold R1 to strafe and I let the WR get a little bit of open space. Then I hit sprint and start running towards him again so I can gain ground before the pass is made. 80% of the time the CPU will see the huge space I've created and think, "OMGWTFBBQ OPEN MAN!!!!111" and lob up a pass. If it is a lob, I tip it, because it's almost impossible to have a player who jumps high enough to intercept it. If it is a medium pass or a bullet, I go for the pick. I'm playing with Florida State (imported my RFTH guy to coaching) so I have the 3rd best corner in the game, so this may not work for every team.

I stop the deep passes similarly. It works better in Madden series since the players are slower, but it still sometimes works here. When I know the pass is going to be deep, I just continue using the D-Linemen for pressure onthe QB. Then once he throws it, I quickly switch the CB (sometimes, when the players are off the screen, i screw up since I don't know where my player is... I wished they had fixed this by having a larger view of the field). Once I'm with the CB, I just allow the WR some room so he gets in front of me (because the only way to bat down a pass is to do it from behind). Then, right when before the ball shows on the screen, I make sure i'm directly behind teh WR at all times. Then once it lands in our area, I press either teh intercept or the swat button (mostly intercept because it's easier to reach on PS2). Unless my CB doesn't jump high enough (which happens alot in this game), the pass would usually be deflected (mostly towards the receiver as I'm beginning to notice mad: ).

And rdeyes, I'm using Oregon State. When they use to have Ken Simonton and Steven Jackson, I use to be unstoppable. But they have changed their gameplan since then to a more passing oriented system, because they haven't found a successor to either RB. Their LB's, special teams, receivers are good, but everything else isn't that great.

Hey Milla, I just recruited a 5 star FS from Fredericksburg, VA. Aren't you proud? biggrin:

hawh haw!! no shit? thats awesome, do you recruit in dynasty or Race for the heisman? I havent recruited anyone in race for the heisman yet.

Chronic Diarrhea 08-02-2005 12:57 PM

Dynasty, I switched my RFTH guy to coaching at Florida State. I got tired of RFTH so I simulated the last two seasons. To me you can do the same thing in Dynasty as RFTH if you have any sort of imagination, plus it's more fun to be in control of everything.

I'm trying to get Virginia as a pipeline state for me, since there seems to be a lot of good defensive recruits from that state in this game.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-02-2005 01:45 PM

How many pipelines can you have? Could you take control of the entire US?

Chronic Diarrhea 08-02-2005 01:49 PM

LOL, I'm not sure, but I think you have to have 5, 6 or 7 guys from a state for it to be considered a pipeline state, so you'd have a fucking huge team if you could dominate the entire US. biggrin:

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-02-2005 07:19 PM

anyone know how to stop 6'7 receivers from catching hail-mary passes when they are covered one-one?

rdeyes 08-02-2005 08:37 PM

yeah , i dont like the freaking tipped passes that get intercepted by a guy half away across the field.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-03-2005 12:45 PM

.. i can't win in this game... the computer seems to do everything i can't. They can complete short passes, while everytime throw a short pass, a swarm of their defenders goes around the ball. What irrates me the most is when they throw long bomb and they complete it. I try to play games where there are no deep passes, but then the computer does this. It is impossible do stop these deep passes from what i'm beginning to notice.

rdeyes 08-04-2005 12:18 AM

do you find the kick returning to be easier than in the past

Chronic Diarrhea 08-04-2005 12:39 AM

I can't, I get teabagged everytime around the 20-25.

I agree, i just put it on varsity and lower the AI...but even than they still make amazing catches from short throws and long bombs that i cant do.

Cpt. Obvious 08-04-2005 09:34 AM

I have found punt returns alot easier this year. I had Rayshawn Bolden from WVU return 7 back for tds in a season. Unlike last year when as soon as you received the ball you'd be big hitted and then fumble.

i agree . i was playing Ohio State vs Miami and had Eric Haw #2 run back two kickoffs for TD's on back to back plays , the only reason i had to return the kick was because , the computer was throwing doug flutie passes . im using those sliders you guys posted stupid:

KTOG 08-04-2005 10:04 AM

doug flutie > most

Flutie Flakes are godly.
