i'm on person number 50. He uses these people as representations of social issues. When you think of the top 100 people that ruin america you may ask where are the economists? I view the list more as a list of social issues. He lists the people in general categories. He goes through people with gangsta rap, conservative talk shows, certain black leaders pushing any kind of self responsibility out the window, uber-liberal college educators, feminists, rediculous court cases, etc.

I really like this book. Don't call me a stupid kid that can't think for himself. I agree with much of the points he tries to make in this book.

Noam Chomsky.........wtf.. I bet 97 % of American have no clue of even who this is. How is he hurting America ? The man is a genius.

I loved learning about Noam...I only learned about him when he was not for what some guy said about in class about the holocaust never existed...but int he fact that he has a right to say it as it is his opinion and he has free speech.

Sorry but i don't read literature that is written from a democrat written about republicans and vice versa. Its more than obvious that some one who picks up the book is going to agree and not give both sides of the issue. I'll give an example and i won't even use an obvious one like a democrat ...

Rick and Kathy Hilton are owners of the Hilton Hotels and billionares. They are enemies of the state because they are big business, Kathy has a lame reality show, poor wages for staff, money hogs, blah blah blah (not to mention they brought Paris into this world). So what? They created a hotel business that provided enough class by beating out the competition with luxury hotels at lower prices. Wouldn't you do the same? Isn't that capitalism? As for the mine drowning reality crap they pump out ... i think they are the least at fault for this. There are worse things out their that plague television and our views on them (IE Real World, Joe Millionare, etc).

lol brian. From what you said in that first paragraph, it makes you seem like you're trying to say you're better than me because you stay away from these kind of books (I know you definitely didn't mean that beer: ).

But you have to get it to your mind, I'm not going to write a whole thesis/report with this as my main source. I'd never do that. I'm reading this just for enjoyment. I agree with the fellow and that is that. What's wrong with reading something that you enjoy?

I think that's exactly what these books are for, enjoyment purposes only. They aren't meant to change peoples minds and make a difference in the way people think.

KTOG 08-06-2005 01:23 AM

I guess my whole point is I don't read books that I agree with because I already agree with them. All it would be doing is reinforcing my beliefs. I like to read something that sparks questions. This way I can see the other side of an issue and hopefully learn about it and accept it, or learn how it works and deduce why my reason is better.
