Will tetras and Cichlids get along well though?

Also what is the name of the cleaner thing again?

that tank wil not support more then 3 ciclids man, no go there. + ciclids are only aggressive, they get along great with small fish, but have hard times with any decent sized fish, like angels, sword tails ect.

Remember the rule of thumb to keep a tank from over crowidng, 1 inch of fish per gallon.

So no Cichlids for my tank?

I would avoid it, they also like acidic water. (and require a certain type of grass bedding/filter medium to be layed. (that is how they like it)

So what would you recommend for my tank?

Go for Gouramis, they look similar, and are much less aggressive. + Kissing gouramis will probably get your gf in the moood to try something new if you know what I mean happy:

I have always known the Species themselves as Gouramis.

They have many variations ect.

Alright, i found some Dwarf version. I definatly want to stick with Neon tetras for awhile, i just love the color, should i get a cleaning fish?

get a pleco, and a couple cory cat's, they help reduce the amount of cleaning.

Roger, so i plan on getting like 2 (3?) tetras, a pleco (or cory cat?) and maybe something else? or do i not have the room. 5 and a half gallon tank.

you could fit, 1 pleco, 1 to 2 corys, and 6 to 8 tetras, since they school together. + the pleco is usually stationary. anything less then 6 tetras is kind of a waste, half the fun is watching them swim in schools.

My mates got a turtle in his, its freaking awesome. It climbs up onto a rock (not submerged in the water) and sunbathes under a hot lamp. Its also really lazy so when it goes to sleep it'll get itself stuck between the glass and a rock, so his head is poking out of the water. If I had a big enough tank, i'd get one, as they can live in the tropical water. He's also got a lobster which is also pretty cool, although it spends most of its time hiding.

I'm sorry boys, but this is probably the most boring thread ever. I mean, God love ya for liking fish tanks n' shit, but phew...
