i'm going to see it tomorrow night at an employee screening. I'll let ya'll know
|
Just remembered this (if it's any importance) It just goes to show how intolerant christianity is. I go to a catholic school - since the system is more or less better than the public system. Screen Ed, a class entirely devoted to watching movies was getting set up to see the da vinci code next week when suddenly they reversed the position and are going to see another movie instead. Good to see some people don't want students to see it. ffs rolleyes: Bet the principal got a call from one of the priests at the local headquarters.

is this movie being re-released or something?
|
just got back from seeing it.
Out of 5 stars, I'd give it a 3.5. I never finished reading/listening to the book before I went in and saw it. But the people that did read it said the book was better (as is many cases in film). My review is just from a person that has no knowledge of Dan Brown's book. I was really excited to hear the music once I read that John Williams was doing it. But eh, out of 5 stars, I'd rate the music a 2. There really was "no theme" to anything. It just was a bunch of slow, moving, orchestral string chords. It added to the erie feel for sure. But I just wish that it had something that would remind me of the Da Vinci code when I heard it (ie. Indiana Jones or JAWS). Tom Hanks for some reason sounded a bit stuffy with his nasal passage. There was a scene early on in the movie where it was REALLY evident that he might have had a cold. But as the movie progressed, it really didn't bother me at all. That could have been because 1) it got better and his 'cold' cleared up. or 2) I just got used to hearing his altered voice. Tom Hanks did a fantastic job...he still ranks in my top 3 Favorite Actors. The woman actor reminded me of a mix between Cathrine Zeta Jones and Brook Burke. ha I thought it was a good flick. It is nothing that is going to take the film industry to a new level or anything. It is just getting alot of attention b/c of the stupid Papacy. rolleyes: If it wasn't for that, it wouldn't have as much hype-factor imo. |
i thought it was pretty good, i mean no movie ever exceeds the book in terms of being great. i couldnt see tom hanks being langdon, but he did a great job of being that type of character.

stuffy? no, he kinda sounded like tom hanks always sounded, lol.

The one scene in the beginning when he was giving his opening speech to the crowd and the his next scene made him sound like he had a cold. I'm going NUTS! oOo: stupid: wallbash: freak: cuss: |

[quote:5748b]While the film didn't set a domestic box office record, it was the largest weekend opening of the year so far and became the second largest worldwide release after "Star Wars: Episode III." It garnered some $224 million worldwide, according to Sony Pictures.[/quote:5748b] |
Guess with all the bad reviews people still want to see it.

i'll see it, only because i want to see how the book translates to film... and i'm guessing this is the reason why it is doing so well in teh box office

offtopic a bit but does anyone know the name of the music playing in the da vinci code commercials? i tried google and ive listening to the OST and it isnt on there. it sounds like a church chorus, but w/o any distinct lyrics, just voices. IMDB boards are flooded with too many new threads so it will just get ignored.
the music starts 30 seconds into the trailer: http://us.rd.yahoo.com/movies/trailers/ ... 469&type=t |
