Proteus, it doesn't matter if you believe that marijuana being illegal is unjust. The fact is, it's a law and therefore you must obey it. If we start to allow people to pick and choose what laws they have to obey based on what they feel is "moral" then who knows where it will end? Who are you to decide what laws you do or don't have to obey?

John, the fact is that the guy was being stupid, he possibly ruined his life (if he gets the intent to distribute) and that's it. If she doesn't like it, then who cares, it's true.

Incorrect.

Who are the legislators to say what's appropriate and what's not for my own body? The only laws that I feel must be obeyed are those that directly infringe upon the rights of others.

Otherwise, it's our duty as humans and citizens to civilly disobey any and all laws that we disagree with so long as we don't infringe upon others in the course of our actions, and strive to make changes in those laws so that we may live in a better world.

Then I must ask you who you are to tell me what laws I should and shouldn't obey? I would just like to point out the hypocrisies of telling one person that they can't decide which laws to obey while simultaneously telling them which laws to obey.

Of course you'd protest if they made a law banning forks and spoons forcing you to eat with your hands, that's just silly. You wouldn't obey it just because "it's the law". Some people feel the excact same way about Marijuana.

I fail to see how him getting caught is stupid. So many people have said that, but it's no more stupid than the high school kid who smokes pot, or any more dumb than the adult who smokes pot.

What happened here isn't stupid, it's just unfortunate for the person who got caught.

Jotun 11-03-2006 02:57 PM

jesus h christ. i said this had nothing to do with me not liking pot. i dont care what people do, if they smoke pot, fine! why should i care?

so fuck you, whoever was attacking me for that. i didnt say shit about that. the point of this was how i told the truth to my friend, that this kid fucked his life over because of his own stupidity for driving with a broken tail light with a pound of fucking pot in his car. PLUS he's in the ROTC there, you dont fuck around with that.

this had nothing to do with my personal feelings on pot, so fuck you.
and you got me mixed up with someone else prot, because i wear pants that fit me.

Well said, Blase. beer:

i fail to see any justification for that statement. dan's a pretty cool guy.

Coleman 11-03-2006 03:27 PM

I don't find any fault in thinking that the guy did a stupid move by carrying around a pound of weed as he drove with illegal defects in his car. I wouldn't even drive with alcohol in the car as a minor with a broken tail light. If someone wanst to be a superhero and cry that they are a victim of the law, then go ahead.

Seems the main focus got lost here. Let me reiterate:

Situation: Girl tells Jotun about her guy fuck friend getting caught with pot. Jotun says the guy's an ass, girl gets her panties in a bunch.

End Result: Girl was getting cocked by pot head and wanted sympathy from Jotun and didn't get it.

THATS the bottom line. Time for everyone to move on.

Why must a thread remain ontopic if it produces another perfectly good and equally/more interesting topic?

Proteus 11-03-2006 06:23 PM

It's obviously interesting to people if there's replys being made to it. Just because you don't necessarily care for it doesn't mean there's other people with that much less time in their day to argue about it.

Just like now, we've created our own topic, the topic of what an interesting topic is. Get it? Not interesting to really anybody but us, but we're still replying.

Arkan 11-03-2006 06:26 PM

You do realize the difference between an interesting topic and a flame fest don't you?

It's all the same to me. What defines a flame fest?

This is very much an interesting topic, not a flame fest.

And if you want what topic it is, the topic would be the rationale of following laws simply because they're the law, as well as the morality of marijuana and marijuana use.

Arkan 11-03-2006 06:31 PM

Well, since you asked.....just a few of your words here qualify.

But they're not offhanded insults they're relevant to his post and/or belief.

Arkan 11-03-2006 06:34 PM

ok, if you say so. It seems we see things a bit differently.

Proteus 11-03-2006 06:35 PM

If it's any consolation you have way more cars guns and cigars than me. Just throw me a bone and let me argue about pot over the internet.

Arkan 11-03-2006 06:38 PM

That may be true, but i bet you have more games, personal electronics, and free time than i.

......holy fuck, we're "off topic" again !! happy:

.......carry on

Madmartagen 11-03-2006 06:39 PM

he's in ROTC and was in school witha pound of marijuana. he knew the risks, so he has no one to blame but himself. i'm all for legalization, but colleges usually ban smoking tobacco - so even if pot was legal, he would have been busted. lol, a fuckin pound? what a dumbass.

Milla 11-03-2006 06:40 PM

You guys need to just drop it.

Obviously people who smoke pot are going to be on one side of the fence, and people who don't smoke it will be on the other side. Its pretty much irrelevant to argue. Its the law not to smoke it. If you want to thats fine, but people need to realize that theres a risk in getting caught with it, and you will pay the consequences. Calling people stupid for smoking it is stupid, let them do what they want to themselves. And the people who smoke it aren't better than people who don't smoke it, it doesn't make you any wiser of a person. I'm pretty much about to cock block this thread up.

I thought that was the whole point of a forum. Why does everybody want peace? That would be boring as hell.
