My xbox froze once to point where I had to get up off the couch and press the button to restart it. Other than that it owns.
PS Get halo 2. |
You realize. . .that was a rhetorical question. . .
I hate technology - theres so many options out there. Which I suppose is good because it offers a wide range of choice - but also means youll inevitably sit back and think - damn. . .did I make the right decision. I guess Ill just have to go into FRY's or something to really see the screens. I have NEVER been a HALO fan. |

My game has only frozen up on sneak king..lol but its 4 bucks so you cant complain.
if you are worried about heat buy one of the huge fan adaptors for it. ps DONT WORRY when you turn the machine on. They sound like a god damn lawnmower revving up, I thought mine was gonna explode the 1st time I turned it on. |

I like my year old 360. It has never been a problem. If you buy a new one, im hearing, that most of those "circle of death" red light problems are ironed out. An intensive search on the web will turn up manufacture dates of the "bad" consoles all made before a certain date.

Meanwhile ive heard of people going through 5 boxes or more. It really seems to be something random, and odd. Frankly i think those people just take horrible care of them. Though i have heard the "omg i just got my 360 back from repair and 3 minutes in i got he red circle".
|
im on my second. didnt get any red lights on the first one, but I got alot of clicking noises and disc read errors. so I exhanged it. No problems (yet) with my second one.
|
geRV, pls just promise TGB a 10yr guarantee on his would-be purchase ffs... annoy:

Haven't ever had a problem with mine, and I got it last spring. Not too loud either

Well I finally got the mother fucker. . .the XBOX that is. . .
Jesus fucking christ this thing is huge. I know my PS2 wasnt the thinnest girl in the class - but FUCK! And the battery. . .dear god the battery. I spent all day actually inside the piece of shit machine - as it kept on giving me "Open Tray" errors. . .the solution - stick a piece of rubber band on the lens bar so it doesnt go off the DVD. Works like a charm now, although it sounds like a lawnmower when Im in single player for any game. Aint had too much of a chance to play as I spent quite a bit of time just getting the beast open (online tutorials are shit). Fuck though - creating a name on this thing is tough. . .under ANDSv2 (yes TGB, MrSpecialED were taken - a fucking travesty). Question: If I want to change my name in future or add someone on to my LIVE acct - can I do so? |
dont think you can change your name or add someone to a live account.

[/quote:a440d] Lol you wanna see how bulky and heavy the ps3 is in the vertical position compared to the 360, also weighs a lot more, something like 11LBS. ed: |

Also i have the Nyko intercooler snapped on the back of my 360 and it works really good. |

Its designed to run that way, when im gaming on my pc my 2 cards hit 90+c each and my cpu hits over 60c. My ps3 belts out a load of heat at the back as well as my 360, theyre designed to run that way. |
Were just trained to accept that when shit runs super-hot, that something crazy is going on. Especially something that costs as much as the XBOX360 (I dont care if they PS3 cost 600 for the "good" one - 400 for a good XBOX is still a shitload of cash).
Im still hoping someone will eventually come out with a mod that allows games to be dumped to the HD - bypassing the need to read from the disk (and thus shutting the fucking machine up and decreasing load times). . .sort of like HD-Loader for the PS2 (god I love that mod). I found out you can change you rname for 800Points. . .which is the equivalent of 10 fucking dollars. The hell with that. Ill live with my name choice. I also suck at controller based FPS's. |
I also suck at controller based FPS's.[/quote:d2442] it takes a while to get use to it, i hate that switch from mouse+keyboard to controller
Well I finally got the mother fucker. . .the XBOX that is. . .[/quote:a5310]is it a firmware hack or modchip?
|
Its the firmware hack. I bought it pre-modded. The problem was that the discs would SOMETIMES load up. . .and most of the time would not. It kept on giving me an "Open Tray" error - and for like an hour, I searched online finding out where I go to start the fucking game. . .not realizing that if the game was to play it would say PLAY GAME where OPEN TRAY was displaying.
I found out that on some firmware or other - the laser goes "off track" into dead territory and doesnt go back to reading the disc - and stop spinning. So I spent about 4 hours of cursing getting the pos open. . .to apply a bit of rubber band to keep the laser from going off-track. At first it didnt work. . .but once i trimmed the band up a bit, I got it up and going. What I wouldnt give for a fucking modchip though, but something tells me with this laser behavior - Id still get the same problems. Still the shit works so Im not going to complain - for about 15 minutes there I thought I broke the damn thing. |

[/quote:58ac0] Would depend on them making regular hard drives accessable to the 360, you're not gonna fit much on the standard drive it has (13 gig free space). loading time son the 360 are pretty good, with the ps3 data has to be dumped to the hard drive for a lot of games (even demos), tekken 5 for instance when you buy the game first time you put it into the ocnsole you've to wait 7 minutes for it to dump files to the hard drive, and even after that the loading times between matches are pretty long. its not a bit of wonder sony opted for a 60 ig hard drive and allowed users to upgrade the hard drive with a regular sata 2.5 laptop drive, if you have a large game collection the 60 gigs will be eaten up pretty fast. |
True - but they have to be able to do something with those USB ports. . .shit I dunno - Im not a techie guy. I just know going from HD based gaming to DVD is semi painful. At least on some of these games the only loading is actually from out of the game into it - once inside it just runs. Which is nice.

Got Patiences?
Ive noticed maybe 30 seconds of load time on all the games Ive played |

Also FPS on a console to me has gotten easier. I use to hate it, but i can play R6 Vegas and CoD3 without any problems. |

Fuck, the time we spend to have our gaming equipment up to snuff. I spent alot of time to get my damn lappy just to shutdown. Good job on your patience TGB.....good thing you don't have lil' kids running around though oOo:

Ive no idea what the firmware version is, but I heard this is really only happening on the NEWEST firmware so I assume thats what the lil bastard I bought it from had it on. I really dont have the patience to take it all apart again, especially after getting it to finally work the proper way - plus I wanted to smash it like 4/5 times last night and just accept the 400 dollar loss. [quote:34dcd]good thing you don't have lil' kids running around though[/quote:34dcd] I would have told them to leave me the fuck alone while I deal with my shit. . .I was REALLY pissed during the whole thing. . .mostly because it was Sunday, and realized the more time I spent inside the machine - the less time I had to actually PLAY it. And no, I have no patience for ingame loading after getting used to (at max) five second loading from the HD. Sure youd have to increase the HD size somehow, but that would be a cost I'd gladly incur for the reduction in loading - even if its minimal. |
I regret buying my 360. I don't even play it. Anyone wanna buy it?
|
what is your gamertag TGB?
