Chris "Goebbels" Benoit

Front page on CNN - this'll only serve to bring another black eye to the sport, especially now that they've found the steroids in his place.

Still kind of shocked he could do something like this, suppose we'll never know what pushed him over the edge to kill his family and himself. annoy:

Rumors:
Supposedly, Benoit was at his Saturday house match (the day when his son died) but then flew home, telling promoters that his son was coughing up blood in a family emergency. I've heard this many times, but I've also heard he wasn't even at the show and that he just called them. Also, the text message that Benoit sent to Chavo Guerrero said something along the lines of "the back doors are being left open and the dogs have been fed". Basically, Chavo thought this was bizarre, especially since Benoit didn't return anything thereafter. once again, these are rumors I have read on several less-then-withstanding websites. |
Fuck him, he's a cowardly kunt for killing his own kid.

ESPN.com reports that D.A. Scott Ballard said Daniel Benoit, Chris and Nancy Benoit's seven year old son, had needle marks on his arm. They believe he had been given growth hormone because one or both of them believed he was undersized.
ESPN.com also reports that Ballard said: -Benoit hanged himself from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment. Benoit used weights, the pulley, and a cable to choke himself to death. -The decomposition of the bodies was staggered enough for them to determine the staggered times of death. -Regarding the text message Benoit sent, he said: "And our assumption is that that was an effort to try to get somebody to come find the bodies after the suicide. That is our assumption." |

[quote:490a8] On Saturday, June 23, Chris Benoit was slated to appear at a WWE live event in Beaumont, Texas. That afternoon, Benoit contacted WWE to inform them that his wife and child were ill, and that he would not be able to attend the show. WWE executives rebooked Benoit’s flight for the following morning, allowing Benoit to miss the Beaumont event making alternate arrangements for him to attend the pay-per-view event in Houston on Sunday. WWE employees attempted to confirm with Benoit his travel plans but were unable to contact him. Early Sunday morning, between 3:51 and 3:58 a.m., Benoit sent five text messages to co-workers: Text Message 1 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone “My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215” Text Message 2 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone “The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open” Text Message 3 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:54am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone “My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215” Text Message 4 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:55am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone “My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215" Text Message 5 to one co-worker (sent 6/24 at 3:58am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone “My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215” Throughout the day on Sunday, WWE made numerous attempts to contact Benoit both at home and at local hospitals in the Atlanta area. As of 11:00 p.m., WWE officials were unable to establish contact with Chris Benoit. At 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, WWE officials were notified of the text messages sent to the co-workers the previous day. By 12:45 p.m., WWE had contacted Fayetteville County Sheriff’s office requesting they check on the Benoit family. Fayetteville County Sheriffs office made contact with WWE at approximately 4:00 p.m. advising that they had entered the house of Chris Benoit and found three deceased bodies – an adult male, adult female and a male child. WWE was told that Benoit’s home was now considered a major crime scene. The decision to cancel the live event scheduled in Corpus Christi that night was made between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. In keeping with company policy, and with limited knowledge regarding facts of the case, WWE choose to air a memorial dedicated to the career of Chris Benoit. As facts emerged surrounding the case, all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com. well, here's the motive...
Canadian female Pam Winthrope told News 1130 in Canada that Chris Benoit's son had a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome. According to WebMD, "Fragile X Syndrome is a defect of the X chromosome which causes mild mental retardation. The disorder occurs more frequently and severely among males than females. This condition is the leading known familial cause of mental retardation in the United States. Language delays, behavioral problems, autism or autistic-like behavior (including poor eye contact and hand-flapping), enlarged external genitalia (macroorchidism), large or prominent ears, hyperactivity, delayed motor development and/or poor sensory skills are among the wide range of symptoms associated with this disorder." Winthrope, whose son also suffers from the condition, told the Canadian news outlet that her husband reached out to Benoit five years ago in an attempt to increase awareness about Fragile X. She told News 1130, "We talked to him because I was trying to set up a support group in BC and in Canada, we only have a couple of them. My husband was struggling when we got diagnosed with our son, and Chris was struggling with his. They talked for a few minutes and then he said he didn't want to be a public face for Fragile X, he just wanted to keep it really, really quiet." Winthrope noted that the lack of support for those affected by the disorder can tear families apart. Nonetheless, "she couldn't believe the news that Benoit had taken his life along with his wife and 7-year-old son," wrote News 1130. |

LOOL! It's funny because he was a douchebag. |
Well, it seems that Benoit is a quiet guy, so him not wanting his family to be the face of a disease isn't something drastic. But the fact that he wanted his son to be a normal/athletic by him putting in HGH into his son's arm, that probably tells something.
In addition the fact that his wife wanted a divorce, I guess Benoit got into a fight with his wife about the situation. I assume she probably was threatening divorce again, and with Benoit on "roid rage", I guess he finally went over the edge and killed her. But its the rest I don't understand... he might have killed his son because he felt shame in him (not being normal?). And I guess, a day later he realized what he had done, and couldn't live with himself. So he sent the text messages about where to find the bodies and just hanged himself. Regardless, none of it makes any sense unless "roid rage" had to have been in his system, causing him to react so drastically. |
I was listening to Howard Stern today and Eric the Midget called in. I guess Eric is refusing to be on the show anymore for what Howard said about Benoit. Eric was defending him and almost his actions...Howard said, "You are a fucking nut Eric. Shame on you. Shame on you Eric, you fucking nut." I LOLed

im speculating on his thought process here but I think he felt that his family was a disappointment. Siring a son who is not worthy of ascending to the kingdom of Benoit and cursing the mother for spawning a child with retardation. Im guessing this thought process coupled with the debilating steroid and other unknown substances abuse drove him to the brink. The man was a self made success. Im guessing he was a bitter, tired, but stoic outsider on the fringe of society. Interesting that no one was really close to him and based on interviews he kept a distance from people. Perhaps he was so embarrassed about his son, that he kept people (and support elements/help) away.
The man ended his line. If you look outside the prison of societal constructs and infrastructure that surrounds the pitiful human existance that most suffer as "life".... in my view it was his right as Patriarch of his family. What I find disconcerning about this was the "reason" he made have done it....embarrassment? ego? pride? shame? A thin line between those and aforementioned hurbis related words and honor, integrity etc... Either way (or anyway) he was a tremendous true blue old school wrestler. |

[quote:d4f01]Wikinews has learned through an investigation that anonymous edits on the Wikipedia article Chris Benoit were added about the death of his wife Nancy Benoit 14 hours before police entered the Benoit home to find the former professional World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Canadian wrestler and his family dead.
An anonymous edit from IP address 69.120.111.23 using the Internet service provider Optimum Online was made at 04:01 UTC on Chris Benoit's Wikipedia article. On a paragraph about an earlier fight: "However, Chris Benoit was replaced ... due to personal issues,...", the anonymous editor added " stemming from the death of his wife Nancy." The edit was reversed just under one hour later with the comment: "Need a reliable source. Saying that his wife died is a pretty big statement, you need to back it up with something." Then just one hour later after the first edit reversion, another anonymous edit by 125.63.148.173 using unwiredAustralia.com.au, a wireless Internet service provider, was made adding about the aforementioned personal issues: "which according to several pro wrestling websites is attributed to the passing of Benoit's wife, Nancy." That edit was reverted just under 20 minutes later, with the comment: "Saying 'several pro wrestling websites' is still not reliable information." Further investigation shows that the IP address used to make the first edit is located in Connecticut, but the IP address is not linked to any computers or servers used by the WWE. The second edit was made by a computer in Australia from a wireless network. Fayette County Sheriff deputy Lt. Tommy Pope stated that police found the family at about 2:30 p.m. ET, which is 18:30 UTC, on Monday when the WWE called police and asked them to do a "welfare check" after employees of WWE received calls and text messages from Chris Benoit. Early Saturday, Benoit sent repeated text messages that read "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215." Another text message reportedly said "The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open." The messages were sent around 4:00 a.m. ET. Later, on Saturday afternoon, Chris Benoit placed a series of calls that explained why he missed his flight to Houston. The stories he told were mostly about his wife and son being sick with food poisoning and vomiting. Although, in one call he said that he and Nancy were at the hospital to be with Daniel who was hospitalized. Throughout he insisted that he would attend that live event in Houston. When he missed the live event on Sunday, and the WWE couldn't get a hold of him, they contacted authorities. Police say that Benoit strangled his wife on Friday, smothered his son on late Friday or early Saturday, and then hanged himself inside his weight room on Sunday or Monday. The Wikinews investigation is unable to conclude whether the anonymous editors had inside information about the death of Nancy Benoit. This is not the first time Benoit's article has been edited to show false or unsourced information, as the article's edit history indicates a long history of promotional spam and vandalism. Around the time of the edits, the article contained a hidden warning to editors of the section mentioned, warning against adding rumours and speculations . For the time being, Benoit's article has been protected in an attempt to stop the addition of fraudulent information.[/quote:d4f01] |
Yeah, that wikinews thing now seems a little suspicious...

come on its wikipedia don't be so fucking stupid that a killer or benoit would edit it earlier to tell what was going to happen.

[quote:5d600]FOXNews.com also has learned, through widely posted Web reports, that former pro wrestler Sherri Martel, who was found dead on June 15, was linked to former wrestler Kevin Sullivan — ex-husband of Nancy Benoit.
Martel, who had a reputation as one of the top managers in pro wrestling, was found dead at her mother’s home in near Birmingham, Ala., on June 15. She was 49. Investigators, who have not yet determined Martel's cause of death, say foul play is not suspected but that Martel did not die of natural causes.[/quote:5d600] |

[quote:d87ab]Hey everyone. I am here to talk about the wikipedia comment that was left by myself. I just want to say that it was an incredible coincidence. Last weekend, I had heard about Chris Benoit no showing Vengeance because of a family emergency, and I had heard rumors about why that was. I was reading rumors and speculation about this matter online, and one of them included that his wife may have passed away, and I did the wrong thing by posting it on wikipedia to spite there being no evidence. I posted my speculation on the situation at the time and I am deeply sorry about this, and I was just as shocked as everyone when I heard that this actually would happen in real life. It is one of those things that just turned into a huge coincidence. That night I found out that what I posted, ended up actually happening, a 1 in 10,000 chance of happening, or so I thought. I was beyond wrong for posting wrongful information, and I am sorry to everyone for this. I just want everyone to know it was stupid of me, and I will never do anything like this again. I just posted something that was at that time a piece of wrong unsourced information that is typical on wikipedia, as it is done all the time.
Nonetheless, I feel incredibly bad for all the attention this got because of the fact that what I said turned out to be the truth. Like I said it was just a major coincidence, and I will never vandalize anything on wikipedia or post wrongful information. I've learned from this experience. I just can't believe what I wrote was actually the case, I've remained stunned and saddened over it. I wish not to reveal my identity so I can keep me and my family out of this since they have nothing to do with anything. I am not connected to WWE or Benoit at all in anyway. I am from Stamford as the IP address shows, and I am just an everyday individual who posted a wrongful remark at the time that received so much attention because it turned out to actually happen. I will say again I didn't know anything about the Benoit tragedy, it was a terrible coincidence that I never saw coming. I hope this puts an end to this speculation that someone knew about the tragedy before it was discovered. It was just a rumor that I had heard about from other people online who were speculating what the family emergency Chris was attending to. I made a big mistake by posting this comment on his page, since all we had were what we thought was going on and nothing about what actually was going on yet, and sadly what happened turned out to be my speculation at the time. I assumed wiki would edit out my information, which they did, so thats why I didn't go back to edit it out myself. I know I keep repeating it but I feel terrible about the mainstream coverage this has received, since it was only a huge coincidence and a terrible event that should of never happened. I am not sure how to react, as hearing about my message becoming a huge part of the Benoit slayings made me feel terrible as everyone believes that it is connected to the tragedy, but it was just an awful coincidence. That is all I have to say, I will never post anything here again unless it is pure fact, no spam nothing like that. Thank you, and let this end this chapter of the Benoit story, and hopefully one day we will find out why this tragedy ever actually happened.[/quote:d87ab] The guy made this comment on wikipedia. He doesn't seem very old, so I guess it was a coincidence. EDIT: The guy is a 19-year-old UCONN college student whose name has already been released to the AP. [url=http://spring.newsvine.com/_news/2007/06/29/808872-the-college-student-who-knew-about-the-benoit-murder-suicide-before-police%20already:d87ab]Wish you guys would learn how to point to your mile long link[/url:d87ab] |
[quote:cc333]After the double-murder suicide, Chris Benoit's father, Michael Benoit, was contacted by former wrestler Chris Nowinski. Chris Nowinski suggested that years of trauma to Chris Benoit's brain may have led to his actions.
Tests were conducted on Benoit's brain by Julian Bailes, the head of neurosurgery at West Virginia University, and results showed that "Benoit's brain was so severely damaged it resembled the brain of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient." Benoit's brain was shown to have an advanced form of dementia and was similar to the brains of four retired NFL players who have suffered multiple concussions, sank into depression and harmed themselves or others. Bailes and his colleagues concluded that repeated concussions can lead to dementia, which can contribute to severe behavioral problems[102]. Benoit's father suggests that brain damage may have been the leading cause of his crime.[/quote:cc333] Years of doing that swandive headbutt had to have contributed to that =/ Suprised he could do his job at all if the damage was that severe. |
wow, thats nuts
